Strap it on, go to war
Feed the homeless,
Clothe the poor.
Fight the symptom,
Not the reason,
It's cheaper and
Keeps kings in season.

Sheep deserve their shears,
Judas goat to calm their fears,
Media keeps the stew boiling,
The soldiers dying and
The workers toiling.

Never question,
Do not think,
This hateful,
Grasping,
Greedy stink,
Of men in power,
Hate-filled glowers,
Looking, wanting
Distant towers.

Topple cities,
Ancient, glorious,
Declaring premature
War victorious.
Absent weapons
Of mass destruction,
Just a smoke-screen
For their corruption.

Secure the oil-field
While the Museum is looted,
Their true agendas
Can't be refuted.
Sooner or later
They will get booted.

The wind has changed
The worm has turned
Those in power
Will get burned.
Failing in their
Appointed task,
In their bad karma
Will they bask.

January, two thousand nine,
The end of an error.

I know your stance, Mitch. Its not my job to confirm your bias by drooling at the mouth like your average liberal.

Caveat Emptor. The Neo-cons sold their lies, and we bought it. Now we pay the price. Perhaps we'll buy something that's actually worth the price in the next election. Who's to say?

Being an ignorant redneck is cool these days. If people refuse to educate themselves as to how they are manipulated by the corporations, I have no sympathy when their children are blown up by an IED in the furtherance of private sector agendas executed by public sector resources.

I understand completely what you wrote. Its up to us to change the status quo, because the people who have a vested interest in things as they are certainly won't.

I called you no names. You may infer what you like, but if you choose to lump yourself into a "group", which is what I referred to, then that is your choice in terms of personal identification.

Drive fast, turn left.thumbs up

The voice of reason is like a cry in the wilderness, trish.

People are irrational, but, if you strip all moral and ethical rhetoric from any polarized issue, at heart its all economic. Until people take charge of their own stance within the market, they will continue to be manipulated into valuing packaging over content...

What I want to know is...

Did you mean "error" in your title?

Or did you mean "era"?

Very good. You should blog your "poem"; there are many political websites that would welcome your contribution. Trish is right; spread it out more.
I rather like your metaphorical comparison of a content as opposed to its packaging...shades of Marshall McLuhan and Chomsky even. Good analogy; the actual product or content is always so over packaged; mostly empty, devoid of any real substance except air...

My wishlist for the Xmas

From Uncle Sam (yankee, R/N and whoever)

Push Automative Industry to start manufacturing Electrical Cars,
Conduct Real & Honest Brokerage in the Middle East,
Health Insurance for every American,
Fight with corporate corruption (starting with reducing the CEO salaries and hiring only who are legal and pay them wages they can afford a living with)
Clean up Katrina Mess

From Fellow Citizens

Overcome fear and ignorance
Mean Peace when you call it and live in it

Dear Trish,

Duly noted...That wish was intertwined with overcoming ignorance & fear.....

I know what it looks like from abroad......

However, in my humble opinion, our Media in general is not necessarily bias, (with the Exception of a Network whose name is identical with an ANIMAL from the canine family and, one must acknowledge, owned by an Australian Individual)

but rather, it is sensation & ratings driven and, more commercial than journalistic, if you will...

Journalism is an idealistic and noble profession. But Media is a commercial entity, a money making corporate machine, not the respectable institution it once was...

Peace

H.cheers

haha, agreed Airliner, that certain Australian individual has caused more than his fair share of misinformation yes.

I see the media as not much more than a tool of whoever is in power these days - its a sad sign of the times when money is its own moral judge, jury and executioner - and sensationalist distractor too - sad

I hope you get your wishes,

Trish

Petty tyrants try
To make warriors rage

They deliberately bait and switch
They blur any reasonable set of lines
They babble on incessantly
How they're the holy put-upon kind

They attack with innuendo
They slander lie and cheat
They've got a discount on their souls
And it's going for dirt cheap

They whine and moan and groan
They distort and warp the thought
That might lead them to the open
Because they don't want to get caught

They have no faith down deep
They cannot make the leap
Because they cannot help themselves
They're doomed to remain eternal creeps

They're small and twisted up inside
But they can puff up really big
They claim they are a predator
But really they're the pig

Not that they can't slather
Or layer it on real thick
They're just intelligent
Enough to know
How to be quite slick

It's the
Idiots of the year award
The slant rant point of view
Goin to the one
Who's got a crock full
Of talk talk talk

But isn't much on follow through
