when it asks you if you want to close the tabs, is it cos you clicked on the red cross in the top right corner of the browser??

cos that one will close all pages you have open

look and make sure theres not smaller red crosses in the bottom line of the browser, each page has an individual cross

Hi Roseofsharon, Vista is what I have and it has all sorts of problems, including this one I discovered, I am disappointed for you because I managed to solve this particular problem by minimising prior to opening new windows. When it asks you do you want to close all windows make sure the ones you want to stay in are not also open on your desktop, ensure they are to your task bar at the bottom, it should only be windows that are open on the desktop that close. sorry its not working for you.

sigh dunno

if you have problems with multiple windows from your browser, you can try having 2 different types of browser open at once

say

mozilla and netscape

Ok, check your system properties to find out what you're working with, first.
(go to your start up menu, go into "control panel" then "system")

When is the last time you defragmented your 'puter?
(if you do a search for "defragment", your computer should be able to guide you. It's rearranging information to make your computer run more efficiently.)

Shortcut for a tab page is "Ctrl + T".

...this might get you one step closer to what you're trying to do.
:)

Vista creates more grouchy people than a chocolate shortage.
It's so bad that most professional services will not install it, not even on request.
If you ask them what they suggest... you'll typically hear "Firefox".

I'd poke around in the Browser Options (Or Internet Options)and make sure that each site opens in its OWN Window.
But then'Vista is a Pain in the Neck no matter what.
Would not want it if they'd paid me to.peace peace grin

You can just do a right click over your link and use "open in new window" to successfully open a new window every time.
