I life in a very little and very old town in the middle of Germany. You have here a lot of old historic houses from the middle-ages. It is wonderful to go around and look on the old churches and walk trough the confine lanes. We have the most inclined marketplace of Europe, a well knowing brewery a book factory, which printed Harry Potter for the German readers.
A few Minutes away you have big sees, forest, historical castles.
Weimar is near by us. And in every town around us, you can find places where ppl like Goethe,Schiller and Luther had worked. It is full of culture.

Helen Keller's Birthplace, Fame Recording studio, A Music Hall of Fame, W.C. Handy Home, Pope's Tavern and Museum, Indian (Native American) mounds and museum, and a few others are in the Northern section of Alabama...That's all of I can think of just off the top of my head...

Middle of Maine...State college nearby....my town is very small...in the valley with streams where lumber mills used to be.
Woods....logging.....hunting...ATVs...snowy winters and lovely summers.
Town hall...active girl scouts...great local volunteer fire department.
No lobsters or ocean or tourists here,
