Tough one - I related to my mother very well and wished to assume her skill with communication and the written word. I related to my father in that I wanted to understand how things functioned and repair them like he did. Draw?

gentlepaws: A male with an Oedipus complex identifies with his mother. A female with an Electra complex identifies with her father.
Personally, I identified with my dad. I had neither complex. I'm in the minority.
Well, I identify most with my father but I doubt I have an Electra complex. I am not best to judge, of course, on the indepth aspects of my psyche. That would, surely, as with us all, take a psychiatrist?
For one so sagacious, as a rule, Paws, I am surprised. I find your question all too simplistic and, dare I say.... sweeping??
There is much more involved in having either complex than simply "identifying" with father/mother, and you will know this. There will be a whole gamut of elements in varying degrees to be considered. Some probably considered, in the field, as "unhealthy"...???

Claayer: Awww some parents just don't deserve kids do they
hi claire !... i'm not slagging them off because they were'nt bad parents ...just people that were on different wavelengths to me !
my fathers dead now ...but my mothers still alive !...and we get on very well when you keep it light pretend that you're somebody that you're not and agrees with everything she says !
but some things happened a few years ago when i started to speak up for myself ...and also started creative and thinking ' out the box' for the first time but they never even listened to me whilst i noticed that my freinds parents were listening to him telling him how clever he was and encouraging him .....when it was all my ideas !!!!!
until this very day they still don't know the real me ...how clever i am or what i was really trying to show them ...because they'll just rather carry on watching eastenders all the time
