Sometimes. I don't have any Christmas presents to buy so I do write a fair amount of checks. Makes Christmas a little less depressing I suppose.

I doesn't have to be money. If you feel the need to do more, donate some time as a volunteer if can.

I feel the same way, I wish I could help childrens charities. But I have a difficult time just putting food on my table and paying my own bills.

There are so many worthy causes I decided a long time ago to have a chosen few. The United Way spreads it out better than any other organization.

Yes work is BIG into donating to charities. They sent out hundreds of reminders and I feel like crap about not being able to help as much.

I can't help out as much as I want, but I do little things here and there. Like giving my change to the Salvation Army when I'm going into the store. I cleaned out my cabinets to bring food to the food bank drive.

At least I am helping a little. To me, its better than not at all....

All charities, especially at this time of year are collecting and distributing world wide, It as sad that some of the biggest simply stock pile the donated items be they food cans or clothes, blankets etc. into locked warehouses and then sold to other parties that also include smugglers that use them to mask what ever they are smuggling into various countries; guns, drugs...tainted foods. The donations are then dropped into an ocean from a ship or cargo plane or burned on some isolated improvised runway. Many good charities risk life and limb to deliver these items. Their planes are fired on, their distribution centers come under attack and their people are often killed, kidnapped. No need to mention all the corrupt officials that swarm all over many of the charity distribution facilities...and exact money or "favours" from the poor, the starving in so many refugee camps in the Third world. Along with your donations, always keep in mind the volunteers that go and try to give out your donations...say a small prayer for both the persons in need and those volunteers on those mercy flights...it won't cost a thing...%)

Not really most charities are profit making scams. The US only requires such a small amount of the money collected to actually go to who it is raised for that I have given up on this altogether. I think your time and money would be better spent helping someone on a personal level rather than lining some church or other organizations pockets.

Exactly!

911 showed the greed behind charities. Red Cross, etc.

All of the big charities as well as smaller ones soak up a large majority of donations..and when asked about it they all respond with, "Some of the money went to administrative costs, yes".

Give me a break!

No, I do not feel this way.

If you were meant to give more, then you have the resources.

Perhaps you could contribute your time to a charity or non-profit organization as I do.
