John Paul Satre in his book 'No Exit' that 'Hell is other people'.. now incidentally I do not agree with this proposition and won't get into it but... 'is heaven other people'?
an earlier post got me thinking...and I kinda believe to an extent that it is... here is why... and I hope u don't all think I have finally gone ga ga...
I think all life is connected by an energy force.. I believe this force to be 'GOD' us humans (who are are a little more 'sophisticated') experience this energy as 'soul'.. I believe to be a one with the universe (or GOD) we have to open to connecting with each other and nature.. and it is through this spririt of unity and 'going with the flow' so to speak that we can achieve 'heaven' or utopia..
Now I know this sounds a bit 'out there'... but what do U think?
and i do very much think state of mind has much to do w/ your self talk what you are thinking/believing
all great paths mention this in some form
bible says it is done unto you as you believe ive been in new age movements that say the same thing (Louise Hay)?
it is definitely, i can tell you, for me-toooo much a part of where my peace lies, lately anyway
i didnt wanna get into alot tho i just came in cuz i saw you had started the thread and ive been meaning to say for about 2 days that i really like this pic-
I think I get the utopia aspect, but the heaven part lost me. Are you saying that if we reach utopia while we live, then we will be in heaven when we die. And if so, then what will heaven be like? Will we be busy comparing who we thought had the best utopia? If not, what will keep us from doing that? And if we just say you won't want to in heaven, does that mean we will no longer be who we are here?
Personally speaking I am in agreement with this thought process. Since heaven and hell have the 'experience' factor in them .. what can heaven and hell be without a body to experience it?
This 'energy' does not experience pain or joy, it conducts it, passes it along to your body, mind, one defintely needs a body to do that. Heaven and hell are man made concepts that imply that you'll be feeling something good or bad there ..
I mean in a sense disconnecting from our selfish material selves through connecting to others.. freeing the soul so to speak.. perhaps the souls that don't get to 'heaven' (whatever or wherever that may be) are the souls that remain 'trapped' that don't learn to connect with god and through god.. just a thought.. it was your thread that inspired the question by the way
Its just an hunch but I think it has the potential to tie up alot of unexplained phenomena including certain psychic phenomena and 'instinct' as it applies to nature.. Hiya..
Heaven and hell are man made concepts mindf ... not god concepts... oh some say they are the word of god but where's the proof .. bibles and all religious books are written by man/woman/philosophers.
I myself could say I have the word of god too, "that all tomatoes must be ignored or else you're destined to rooted to a beechnut tree for all time." Its not gods word, its some guy philosophizing to create something that explain his lack of presence.
I repeat energy does not feel pain or joy or any emotion, without a body and mind to distinguish the thought and feel the pain or joy etc.
Therefore if heaven only exists for a soul/energy (which cannot feel pain/joy) what good is using heaven as reward or hell as a punishment? One would expect to have to feel this reward or punishment right? Can't do that unless you have a body to feel it with!
I love the replies you have get here. They are so much better than I received in my thread. I have read some really thoughtful ideas. And I am a firm believer, that if you honestly and with an open mind pursue the truth, you will find it.
Great job guys!
Now, a question...
On what are most of you all basing your ideas. I have heard thoughts and experience referred to, but I wondered if there is any other resource being used in your theories.
I have tried to use my intellect (don't laugh) to evaluate other sources on the subject. I try to take my personal experience, input from those I talk to, and other media (historical as well as modern), to make up my mind as to how I believe what. And there has been as ton of stuff written about heaven.
I try not to hear something good (that tickles my ear) and believed it just because I wanted to. Some of the things I believe I don't like very much. But then truth doesn't have to line up with what I want. So I continue to seek, and take time to study, and hope that I will arrive at a place of better understanding than what I had yesterday.
But , my view ... I believe there is a supreme force which exists and guides us thro. There is a soul which is not the same as the body or the mind. Heaven and Hell may exist depending on the religion we are referencing to for the philosophy drawn. But to me , Its here as we live .
I believe the soul lives forever. If thats true afterlife must exist and so must other lives prior.
As i mentioned it depends on the source of belief.
But simple to me is there is a God .. there is my soul .. the deeds i do will ascertain my life now and laters.
