onehitwunder1: I think school or training ground ...

I see you do not like the 'breeding' bit :D
So what is the difference between breeding and schooling? The later has some sort of two-way feedback avenue. Do we? Some leeway, yes.

some of us do benefit from the feedback that we get from our experiences[the only upside of getting older i can see]it makes some sense that those benefits could be cumulative [maby thats where common sense comes from]
Breeding also implies a degree of mindlessness, and i can see, looking at the world as it is,how you could come to that conclusion.we can only hope that awareness and those that do learn prevail

Back to square one, faith.

Only this way the idea of reward and punishment in afterlife/after-this-life makes sense. Why make anyone suffer if they do not remember what for? [may be to have an intuitively/throughout good person, not conscientiously, where no need for rules/commandments]

Yep, just yesterday was speaking to a friend about 'The Secret' [a book] of life. It all fall into pattern. One always gets what they most intensely think of, biggest dreams and fears come true. Take control of your thoughts and get a life! :D And another, and another...

Marivanna_the_II: I like the idea or reincarnation, however it makes me wonder about the purpose.

I think the purpose is enlightenment.

When I first heard of reincarnation it made sense to me because no way did I ever believe in hell but then I could never imagine that I or anyone else I knew would be in any way ready to go back to god / the source / whatever...... by the end of our life.

think I believe in reincarnation 'cause it makes sense to me.
Hasn't anyone ever wondered about that vague sense of longing for something you'd lost but didn't know what..... that sense you've been hurt when noone has ever really hurt you..... why we react so differently to similar situations from birth.......
I don't know......... but I do wonder.

I have to disagree. No amount of wishful thinking brings about what one really desires.

Yeah,
I never thought it was that easy to manipulate the will of god / the universe / fate......

But then people do need to feel they have some control (or even total control) , don't they.......

Is it possible one's fear not to get what they desire is more intense than the desire itself?

Little twisted but still applicable:

But then maybe the whole Universe is our Training Ground.
To think, that only Earth is inhabited is kind of a narrow view in light of the possible number of Inhabitable Planets, and Earth might be suited particularly well as a Training Planet.
Could explain the amount of Souls on the Planet at the moment.
Humans forget sometimes they are made of the same Dust as the Stars.
We are made of Stardust.
We don't just belong on Earth,we belong into the Universe.
We are part of The Essence, some of us might even become "Gods" over time.daydream smile

I agree that wishful thinking is not really effective. It is also degrees removed from the power of focused, conscious, intent.mind over matter does exist and is a powerful force in the universe

I don`t think we can put things into little boxes and label them ... there is too much sheer wonder to the universe.

Take the story of an Autistic little boy (in the USA) who, when able to type messages to his mom, wrote the entire history of what caused his problem - citing Endocrinal problems that he brought about himself inside her womb! he was only 7 years old at the time of writing!

I like the idea that we choose to come back, into the same family line, and we just forget "who we are" thru the birth process..................? Maybe one of the reasons certain family members bear remarkable likenesses to certain ancestors?... in behaviour, likes and dislikes, etc......?.... the reason why some people seem to have a "mission" to accomplish?

My Uncle had an amazing ability to remember things, even as far back as when he was a baby in a pram. He published a book about his memories of childhood, called (A Midhurst Lad) by Ronald E Boxall. An amazing story of life back then, about being born to a life of poverty in little rural English village...
His proudest moment came when his book was accepted into the "British Museum of History" for it's historical value.
As a child i remember thinking he was "Crazy or Joking" about his memories of times gone by...Yet, after reading many of your comments, maybe he was there...we will never know!

Yes,many Character traits of people are so radically different from their biological Parents, that you can only wonder.Genetics just doesn't explain it all.I suppose where the Spirit is involved all our Bets are off.
But if that IS the explanation (Reincarnation) it would cause the Dogmas of some Major Religions to collapse,Yet the Ancient Traditions are full of hints pointing that way.
I read somewhere, that some early Christian Sect believed in Reincarnation, much to the Chagrin of the Early Church Fathers. If that Belief would have taken hold,it would have put them out of a Job and Control rather quick. They're really only still in Business, because they're able to sell that "One-Shot Deal" to the majority of Human Beings, from the Cradle to the Glorious Jailbreak of the Grave.doh
Well,I wonder.
Guess I am able to find out soon enough. :(
Not coming back to let anyone know what is happening, thoughgrin wave

Would be great to get a bit more Clarity,if only our Finite Minds (Brains) could grasp itsigh

Maybe some more learned person on the site knows the details of this, but I remember reading about an American guy, in the last Century, or the one before, who had this ability to "see into past lives" of people, and helped them overcome present problems/phobias/phsychological problems.

Where does this "instinct" come from in people? From past life experiences? Nowadays, young people are wiser than they were when my generation was growing up.

I often question from where comes my instinctive herbal healing knowledge...... In SA, on my farm, I would be confronted with a health problem by someone, it took me about 2 days to think about, (much to the amusement of people who knew me) .... and I would come up, somehow, just a feeling, with the correct diagnosis and treatment.... One of the reasons the indigenous folk there believed I was a Witch, or Sangoma... and scared the holy s--t out of the local church folk! That was the fun part! The pleasure was in seeing people healing themselves.

Edgar Cayce,The Sleeping Prophet?Virginia Beach,The Edgar Cayce Foundation?dunno

Edgar Cayce (March 18, 1877 – January 3, 1945) was an American who claimed psychic abilities. He claimed an ability to channel answers to questions on subjects such as health, astrology, reincarnation, and Atlantis while in a self-induced trance. Although Cayce lived before the emergence of the New Age movement, he remains a major influence on its teachings.

I find the only problem with these para-normal type things is when people devote too much time to them, making them into a sort of religious belief system? Its like worshipping rocks! Sure, rocks give off energy, but they just things of the earth that we can see. And people have all sorts of "gifts" of the spirit, that should be regarded as just normal, not something to focus too much time and energy on.

If these things were So important to our lives - then they would be visible. But they are invisible, so we are not to concern ourselves too much with them - they just part of the phenomenon. JMHO..... and also part of biblical instructions..... Otherwise one could go round the bend!... and end up barefoot selling flowers in the streets!
