Tumpa: To err is human and each of us must understand that, for if we were perfect, we wouldn't be typing away looking for someone via the internet. Secondly, as picky as I am about English, I also understand that for many it is not their mother tongue. Thirdly, wish me all luck on my french exam on Tues. I require passing it to advance in my job....

morganlee: When people from other countries participate and post threads , to then be riduculed for poor grammer or spelling !! Can we not be more tolerant, This is an International forum come on guys make everyone welcome.
I have a good education and never felt like an ignorant person until I moved to Europe... everyone speaks at least 2 languages, many 3 or 4 languages and yes there are many times I feel incredibly ignorant, so my hat is off to anyone who has the skill of languages... on the other hand (you had to know that was coming, didn't you?)
Sometimes an error is made that is just plain funny... the best humor is usually a play on words and I would hope that most people would have a good enough sense of humor to enjoy it and laugh along with everyone else.
I also get a huge rush when I hit the spell check button and it says "no spelling errors were identified" as it happens so rarely!

I often think that with us UK-ers.. the majority of us only speak one language.. Engleeeesh.
It IS lazy.. when you consider how many places you can go to around then world and will always find people that speak their own language AND English. Even in then middle of blimmin nowhere sometimes. .. and as you say often more than one other language.
In then UK we are definitely slack in the language department.
Hi jb i agree with everything you say, but unless funny is handled sensitively it can be hurtful. I don't speak brilliant Turkish but have been encouraged to try and respected for doing so, i try to return the courtesy i have been shown

Okay, I'll try and be more patient and tolerant of the posts written in poor english. Even though they make me crosseyed and dizzy at times and these are just the ones written in english by the brits

(me included)
Alot of the people here speak 3 or four languages, self taught how humbling is that
Ok, I just read the thread referred to earlier... there was no witty play on words, it was just a simple spelling error, and no need for the kind of reaction the poor man got, not funny.
