What is Luxury, to you? Describe exactly what constitutes a Luxury to you.......

To me ... I would say that coming indoors, freezing cold after working outdoors ...... and having a nice deep hot steaming bath ... is a luxury.

I agree!

When I was in the Army and got back after being on exercise simple things like having a bath, using a toilet, sleeping on a bed were all 'amazingly wonderful' luxuries we take for granted when they are available every day.

In Gozo I only had the use of a shower - I missed having a bath; here I only have a bath and miss having a shower!

Same with women; I miss being nagged by one after a while!

Yes, women are definitely luxuries a man doesn't need but are nice to have around now and again!

there are so many things... like opening the tap and getting water, that is a luxury...

but something that feels like a luxury and it's worth millions is that cup of tea that is just the right temperature...

Does that mean you don't get 'it' very often and that's why 'it' is a luxury?

tongue rolling on the floor laughing

Sorry, mate - couldn't resist that one!

Luxury to me is:

Living in a place close to undisturbed nature like forest, moor, mountains or sea

A place with no mancreated noise and pollution

Everytime I hear noise it strikes me that there is (in 99% of the cases) a man behind: helicopters - airplanes - lawnmovers - motorcycles - building tools

Access to clean water - healthy food

Time to enjoy the life and the surroundings

Ability to travel this beautiful planet

Having good friends

Unfortunately several of these things could have been very common, but todays world does`nt allow it for everyone.

Kitty....I agree with you 100%......not only do I yearn for all the things you have listed, but unfortunately I also agree with the fact that, today, all of them must also be considered luxuries.....

I once had to, for about 3 months, bath in a plastic bucket, with only a bush for shelter, in sun warmed river water, back in SA, because was in the process of building a house on my farm. When a friend on holiday invited me to come shower in her holiday apartment - I was astounded at how much we take for granted that warm little room with walls, roof and door and Hot Water!cheers

Yes, a nice cup of tea! and when someone else makes and brings it is even better! Even if I would not have made it myself, when its brought its a small celebration and time to take a break and enjoy it!

At the moment I got a 7yr old who is very proud of her tea-making abilities, so am suffering thru the luke-warm/too much milk & sugar syndrome ... but she is improving...... Better than last year! then she thought she was doing me such a huge favour - at about 10 in the morning while working out in the garden, she brought me a Realy Stiff Whisky with Soda and ice - very proudly! She just assumed it was the Very Best Thing she could bring me!.. yugh!uh oh of course I had to drink it - and she watched me to make sure!.. Cant discourage grandkids can I?

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

so in that case, the luxury would be a deck chair and an umbrella!

At the end of the week of duties - to know one can just lie in bed on Saturday morning till one feels like getting up - that is a luxury! To make coffee, go out onto the grass, sit in the sun and sip coffee and not worry about anything.......

Luxury for me is a style..... a way of life.

Luxury does not always have to mean expensive, but having what others don't have, or have had for some time, or never had.
Luxury for me has to be over and above the expectations we should all have from life. Having the possibility of taking a hot bath should not be considered a luxury, like having a cup of tea, or having a car.

Luxury for me means living in style. A fantastic house, a convertible for the summer months, a go anywhere vehicle for the winter months, a trained cook to cook international recipes, the best of wines available, and of course the most beautiful women for company.

Since I don't live in luxury, I have none of those, except a woman at my side who makes up for all of them together.

Luxury to me is....................
Coming home after a long day at work, running a hot bubble bath, lying in it relaxing with a glass of wine, a few cigarettes and a good book then snuggling into bed with freshly laundered bed linen and getting a sound sleep happy place
