......Unfortunately as bad as it sounds....I can relate to this Author post....I used have good and giving heart......but now my heart is so wary and so guarded ....like the above Author its 'feels nothing'....so it can't be broken or smashed to pieces.....

I agree with all the posters about "time" being the answer. I never thought I would stop thinking about my ex,but each day I forgot about her more and more. It is a cruel thing to say that,"I will forget you in time",but time heals. On the other hand,if one just keeps going from person to person without LETTING time heal,each new mate will just be a old rehashed ex....therefore the "time" has to be alone for awhile.

I have only been married once, at the age of 44. I waited hoping not to make all the mistakes we all here about, well, I was hurt very much, I wonder how many times a heart can fall in love...it seems every time your heart is broken you have a little less love the next time. But I'm a romantic ( Cancer ) so I will never give up trying to find the love of my life.

I know............ to love somebody and let them go is the hardest thing of all to do....... but it has to be 'not done'.
I know she loved me very much - that's the hardest part.
For me to know that I destroyed that love is a terrible burden .......... all I can do is hope and pray that she is happy without me.

Thanks for sharing,Inthewoods...I also waited a long time before marrying thinking it would make for a better marriage. I also was devasted. The problem with marrying later is that your older when the divorce happens. Most people my age are on their 3rd or 4th marriage. I only wanted to be married ONCE. Marriage is work,but BOTH parties have to want it to make it happen. Best of luck friend and what I have found out,look up your old high school classmates on FB and connect back with them. It will give you the strength you need thru friends. Most of them are either divorced or single still!
