dredz_boi: I agree --plus the fact that most (I would say all, but I'm only 99% sure) of the major religions have eerily similar events scribed in them --perceived in different ways.
I personally feel like the Bible has been tampered with early on to fit in with the agenda of early empires through church/state influence. That agenda? Well, I'd sound like a conspiracy theorist if I elaborated.
There have been books written on the subject. There is one that I stumbled on that blew me away. it also helped me to think outside the box.
If ur a true christian ur not a bigot. however we r still human and lose our temper now and then and this is the best site I know of to help u to do that.Iknow what we call radical christians.but its in beliefs like, u dont wear certain colors certain types of cloths, dont cut ur hair if ur a woman, but I have yet to meet one of them that believe in blowing themselves and others up.

I wish I you knew the name of the book. I wouldn't mind giving it a read!
Who says to be a true a believer in God one has to follow a doctrine? Hang on!!! I'll answer my own questions!!! I know who says that!!!! The doctrines within the bible and the Koran and many other doctrines under many other "religious" names ...
Conrad73: Walking the Walk, instead of Talking the Talk (Dogma)
That would be the only religious bigotry I have...I don't like those who Talk the Talk, but then don't Walk the Walk.
I had a guy that was interested in me, but told me that many people (at the club we both hang out at) were telling him to stay away from me because I'm strange and different. I know who some of them are, and I know why...I am openly Pagan in a place where racial and religious bigotry run rampant. I am uniquely me in an area where "different" is shunned. Those same people who have said that are nice to my face and talk to me, and cling to their belief that they are Christians. Yet, if anyone there needs help, I am there to do so. I have donated things to the club and helped people there who needed it. So....who Walks the Walk of their beliefs? I find it interesting.
One of them, I said it was because she's Christian and I'm Pagan, and he snorted, and said, "Kerrie is not a Christian!)
Oh, and not all at that club are like that...that's why I stay, despite the knives in my back. I just ignore those, and keep being me.
FlowerOfTheSun: I thought the question was about being (or not) a religious bigot ...
With my "own version of God" my own beliefs would only be doctrines IF and WHEN they (my beliefs) were turned into "teachings" ...
Absolutely, Flower! That's why I'll discuss my beliefs, but never do I try to convert or persuade anyone to them. I only talk about it if someone asks, or the conversation comes up and others are presenting their beliefs.

As someone pointed out earlier Dru ... good job we weren't born in earlier centuries or we might have been burned at the stake!!!!
