I think sometimes it comes down to how we feel about ourselves...I have never fit in,,not ever,,sometimes it is nice, even special, many times it seems more like a plague. but I have learned to keep on going.;-}

O.K.....I don't wax serious very often, but..........
I have felt this way my whole life. I never did fit in. This is why I chose the entertainment field for a large part of my life. Even as a passtime, I chose entertainment. I know that I am not well liked and I do not fit in. So I am very much a loner. HOWEVER, when I am on stage, "I" am the focus of attention. Even if it's for a three minute karaoke song. And when it is over, it's all about the applause and the compliments. I WAS REALLY LIKED for three minutes(doing better than GW Bush!!). But when I am done, I go back to my table and sit by myself!!
What am I saying?? I found a way to get people to like me. By really forcing myself on them, but in a pleasant way.

Seems a whole load of us never really fitted in;
take a look at what your not fitting in with, and you will probably find that really deep down you dont want to......its not you...
Decide what you want to do with your life, not what others are doing with theres, then go out and do it. You will find others will come to you. They will respect you for been you.
I never fitted in at school, university, work etc it made me unhappy until life taught me a lesson - if you want to be happy be true to yourself and love yourself for who you are.
I've turned into a 50 year old whiskey drinking, harley riding, truck driving, aparist, farmer, cheesmaker, militant eco activist, artist, who has travelled the world, only to land up in Ireland finding beauty in the wing of a butterfly and writing about the world in which I live. I spend half of my life in the arms of a Ta Mokoed militant Maori and the other with a very confusing Polish man, both are younger than me so I expect to die with a smile of my face. I have more friends that I ever imagined possible, all respect me, strangers hear about me and arrive at my door they all accept me the way I am.
to you right now it may seem confusing and even like there is no way forwards for you, but there is, you just need a little courage to go there........spend some time thinking about what you want from your life, without the influence of others. Then go get it girl.

And Kahlil Gibran is very deep and thought provoking. Some one gave us a framed writing about the Pillars of the Temple, when we married. We kept it on our mantle.

Become a Pilot you have lotsa time to do it, and you can blend into other cultures better, least I did when I flashed through a few countries... I don't like the crowd gig, mind you CS people are not bad at all
