I am no good at that sort of thing...and for the most part i can never remember my dreams the next day...and i don't think i'm interested either..but when i do remember them i'm so sure it should mean something...

For the past week i keep dreaming pregnancies...first it was someone elses now its my own...i actually dreamt last night that i had triplets...2 boys and a girl..but in the dream i was only interested in my baby daughter...

Anyone have any idea what dreaming pregnancies mean?

There was a movie made in 1957 called the Three Faces of Eve. Three Faces of Eve, Joanne Woodward, David Wayne, Lee J. Cobb, Edwin Jerome, Alena Murray, Nancy Kulp, Douglas Spencer, Terry Ann Ross, Ken Scott, Mimi Gibson, Alistair Cooke, Mary Field, Rush Williams, Vince Edwards, Nunnally Johnson ... "The Three Faces of Eve" broke new ground when it was released ... THE THREE FACES OF EVE remains to this day a riveting and fascinating glimpse into the mind.

It could be that you are trying to decide something in your mind from three different angles but only one of them is valid.

When it comes to interpreting dreams I don't believe that professional psychologists have any advantage at all. I've usually been able to interpret my own dreams pretty well I think. Although, I also believe that some of them simply have no interpretations, they are just random fantasies.

I personally believe that the fact that you were only interested your baby daughter in your dream is because you view women as in need of protection from men, and you view men as people who aren't worthy of protecting. Perhaps because you see them as having their own agendas so you think they should have to fend for themselves. Sounds like a reasonable interpretation to me. Assuming that dreams mean anything at all.

I also believe that they dreams that have meaning are indeed the ones that we are curious about. I mean, if you're curious about it's meaning then chance are that you felt there was some deep-seated reason for it, or that it was an expression of how you feel about something.

Maybe you're losing faith in men in general and you're starting to feel that all men are the same, or there are no worthy one's among them. This is always a dangerous trap to fall into. It's extremely important that we always view others as individuals and not put each individual on probation for their gender. The mere fact that you were interested in your baby daughter and not in the boys most certainly suggests a gender prejudice. Perhaps not an existing one, maybe just a fear that you are heading in that direction and don't really want to go there.

If it were my dream I would think about exactly how I felt about the boys. Was the feeling merely indifferent, like you simply felt that they didn't need your help, or that you didn't care about? Was your focus more on protecting and loving your daughter, or was your focus more one rejecting the boys? Did you feel any hostility toward the boys like you were enjoying their helplessness or anything like that?

I'm not asking these questions for me. I don't expect you to respond to them. I just think these might be interesting question to ask yourself to further analyze exactly what you were feeling. I think the dream was definitely about how your feel about genders, but was it more focused on the positive feelings of helping the girl, or more focused on negative feelings of rejecting the boys?

Just my personal thoughts. I'm not a psychologist. wink

I've read books and talked to people who interpret dreams, because I have ridiculously vivd dreams almost nightly. Only a few times did it actually make sense.

Alex told me that every character in your dreams are actually yourself. Which settled a GOOD portion of them.

The babies were probably you or representing different aspects of your life that need or need not tending to.

But like Abra said, assuming dreams mean anything at all.

Who came up with that one? And why do people believe other people's opinions so readily? I mean, dream analysis ultimately reduces to opinions no matter how educated.

I don't buy that every character in my dreams actually represents me because I often have dreams about other people. Of course, my mind is the one dreaming so it will always be true that I am ultimately imagining how the other people will react, but that doesn't make them me, it simply means that I'm the one who's deciding how they are reacting. I'm probably deciding that based on how I believe they would react, rather than imagining that they are reacting how I would behave.

I just don't buy that all characters in my dreams are me a second. I often have dreams of saving my mother from death, for example, and I'm sure that I view her as her, and not me. Of course, my mother isn't actually in my dream, I'm just imagining her, but that still doesn't me her me.

In Wikked's dream the baby boys could easily be her mind's image of the male gender in general. I'm sure that we dream of symbols that represent things other than us. And characters are often just that - symbols.

In fact, in a lot of my dreams I dream of authority figures. I'm sure that they aren't me. They are merely symbolic representations of my view of "the system".

I am pretty good at interpreting dreams for myself and my friends. It helps to know someone a bit.

To give your dream a shot, I would say it means you need to put yourself first (the female child) as opposed to taking care of men (the male children).

I actually dreamt I had a baby last night, too, another girl. This baby was still an infant but already talking, telling me what to do, and trying to convince me she didn't need a diaper, etc, when I knew she did. I am pretty sure the baby represents the daughter I have now, who is approaching the teen years, and is very smart and independant. It was a reminder that I still need to protect her and set boundaries and limits.

That's the best interpretation thus far, I think.

I looked it up in a dream book, and if what they say is to believed dreaming someone else's pregnany is "a new direction and ideas" that i am contemplating...dreaming myself pregnant means time to put those contemplations into action...

Could be. Dream books are helpful for learning about symbolism, but I find dreams are very personal and not everything applies. But I believe it doesn't matter so much if you can find a positive outcome in it, sounds like you did. thumbs up

Who came up with that one? And why do people believe other people's opinions so readily? I mean, dream analysis ultimately reduces to opinions no matter how educated.

Who came up with that was Fritz Perls, the father of Gestalt therapy... and I'm sure you already know this, but for others, gestalt means the whole.

So you look at each piece of the whole (dream) in terms of it being some aspect of yourself.

It is actually a pretty interesting way to analyze your dreams.

I'm sure you could force the issue, but why restrict yourself to such a limited view?

I'm sure that I have the dreams about my mother figured out pretty well. When I took her to the hospital I wasn't at all pleased with the way the doctors treated her. Not that they did anything "formally" wrong. They just didn't take the care that a 90-year-old fragile woman required. They couldn't. They aren't trained to do that, plus they didn't have the staff to devote to her.

I was upset with myself for not putting my foot down and taking over the show (even though I actually did as much as I could). Of course, in reality you just don't take over a hospital. They aren't about to let the patient's son call all the shots. That's what the doctor is for! I believe that I knew how to save her, but my hands were tied simply because I didn't have the power of authority to take command of the procedures (i.e. I wasn't the doctor)

My mother died and I felt that I let her down. So my dreams were really about my guilt. I mean, I felt so guilty about it that I was pissed off at myself for not having become an MD just so I could be in control when my mother needed it. That's how bad I felt about not having control at the hospital. I was even angry with myself during the day so this was more than just in dreams.

But my mother was definitely my mother in my dreams. She wasn't a part of me. I think I can pretty much tell whether a character in my dreams is representing me or someone else. I understand my dreams pretty well. In fact, even while I was having these dreams about not wanting to let go of my mother I already knew what they were all about. I just wasn't prepared to let go of that guilt for not being there for her. I finally have accepted it though. A year and a half after her death and the dreams have pretty well ceased, although I still do have them on lesser occasions with much less intensity. And even during the day I still get angry with myself for not having the authority to rise to the occasion when my mother needed me.

I'm a perfectionist like that, as well as a romantic.

I'm in sad shape. moping

Let out that inner child (subconcious mind, memories), more painful to keep things inside or to hide your real self.
