get some muslin cloth and put some oat meal in it( not sure about the quick oats, best stick to the original- run a bath and let the muslin soak in the bath- helps relieve the itching- it's a tough thing to go through- especialy for kidshug

There is no cure for shingles, but treatment may help you get well sooner and prevent other problems. Call your doctor as soon as you think you may have shingles. The sooner you start treatment, the better it works. Treatment may include:

~Antiviral medicines, sometimes given with steroid medicines, to help you get well sooner and feel less pain.
Medicines to help long-term pain. These include antidepressants, pain medicines, and skin creams.
~Good home care can help you feel better faster. Take care of any skin sores, and keep them clean. Take your medicines as directed. And use over-the-counter pain medicines to relieve pain.

Avoid contact with people until the rash heals. While you have shingles, you can spread chickenpox to people who have never had chickenpox. Be extra careful to avoid people with weak immune systems and pregnant women and babies who have never had chickenpox.

Native American Remedies is a company that has very good, high-quality natural, herbal products. They have two for Chicken Pox...not sure if those will help with Shingles, but they do have things for nerves as well, and nerves is where the Shingles start. (Chicken Pox/Herbes Zoster virus stored in nerve endings becomes Shingles some day for some.)

Btw, there are no side effects with herbal remedies, unlike prescription medications.

Call your doctor as soon as you think you may have shingles. . excellent advice.

When you get shingles (Im just over it), the doctor will give you special anti-viral pills that make the disease much less than it would otherwise be.

It is advised to start them within 24 hours of the first spots or rash appearing for best effect. You are liable to be lying for a month or more otherwise and very sick indeed.

I found lying for 3 weeks with it bad enough, after having taken the tablets, so I can't even imagine the pain if I hadn't taken them.

Zovirax cream is excellent for the rash too to kill the viral infection. Be very careful not to break the skin by scratching that might allow infection into a cut etc, because it can lead to something much more serious. Best just not to scratch at all, no matter how bad it feels.

I hope you all get well soon.

Aveno Oatmeal baths are wonderful for releaving the itching.

Rubbing Alchole is great for taking the chill off a fever.

Cold baths are great for breaking a fever, also if you will put cold rags under the arms, in the bed of the hips and cover them with a heavy quilt this will break the feaver.

I grew up with old fashion doctors.
