I personally, prefer someone who lives less than 2 hours from me. It's just so much easier to see each other a little more often and just about every weekend or so.
I prefer them to live less than 100-110 miles from me. Even shorter is better.
The shorter the distance, the better off to a great start.

Yes, me too. I had 2 long distance relationships in the past and both didn't last but 2 weeks long. And I was back on the bus, back to Arizona (that last one was a 2 day ride!! Yuck!!!).

I think the communication aspect is better....depending on the people of course and their willingness to communicate openly and honestly...you spend hours on-line doing nothing but talking where many of those conversations could take months to happen...if they even happen at all...If anything that's the one positive I see in distance....

Very true..
How long will it take us in RL to share the personal stories we might share here on-line talking..
It's the internet magic the guards we usually put in RL, we take them off here

I have to agree. You take the time to really get to know the person. Whereas, when you're so close, you tend to take things for granted & IMO, don't take the time needed to really find things out about the other person.
And who knows... maybe one day, you can find a way to actually meet the person. And if it's meant to be, it'll happen.
Which brings up another question... do you believe in a predetermined destiny? Or do you believe you make your own destiny?
I can be friends long distance...but a more serious relationship would be difficult to maintain long distance. It's tough to go on dates that way, or just hang out together. And at this point I can't move...so, distance = friendship only for me.
That said, I'll also add that I've always been known to take a gamble and go against everything I ever thought I would if it feels right. I do trust and follow my heart and my gut...so, "never say never"...

well, not at first cos i took it all so seriously then but latterly, I find that I can have a good laugh with people from far flung places in all innocence because we dont have the encumbrances of potential bodily contact - its so much more fulfilling to make love with the mind..............
