Here in Australia, we are enjoying great weather, though with a country so huge, each State differs somewhat from the other. Here in south Australia, weekend temps ranges 20's -30 deg during the day and around 13 deg at night. Some parts such as the coastal areas of Queensland, eg Cairns and Rockhampton, and Northern Territory, such as in Darwin, are hot and steamy
So, to take your mind off the pending wintry weather for those in the northern hemisphere....
Where I am, it is a glorious 30 deg Saturday, tomorrow in 20's, 80's music playing all weekend on the radio, getting people in the mood for sun, sea and surf, more Jimmy Barnes, Midnight Oil, cold beer, and chilled whites...and endless BBQ's. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is outdoors
Our nearest city beaches are 15 minutes from the city centre, and stretch down to the fabulous southern beaches. Don't be put off by the odd shark here and there down south. The helicopter crew will tell you when to get out and go back in!
Anyone care to join us? What will you bring, and what would you like to do?

Would you like to adopt me? I will bring my PJ's I was in Adelaide about 4 years ago. We are facing winter and I hate the cold!
CuspofMagic: And don't forget the Sparkling Shiraz ps its still spring
Of-course it is! I am referring to the summer weather that should continue 'til around March next year, with small variation of temperature. In Adelaide, at least, lol

Yes, Australia has been doing pretty well lately. We actually have a surplus running into the billions, rather than a deficit.
Our dear Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd has taken leadership with both hands in this time of global economic crisis. On 14th December, all pensioners will receive eg around $2,000 per couple, maybe a bit less. and families will receive I think about $1,000 per child under 16. The purpose is for those recipients to go and SPEND, which will boost the economy immensely at such a crucial time. Fantastic Christmas present for those concerned, and for retailers!!!

By the way, South Australia was the only State that was never a penal colony
Just returned from visiting my brother who has a new apartment on the Glenelg foreshore, Holdfast Bay, chatting the night away on the patio with balmy breezes and the sound of the waves rolling in.......
Will be going back tomorrow lunch time. Walk a few steps from the front of the building, and you're onto the sand, along which you can walk for miles. Or retreat into one of the many cafes or restaurants, all along and around the harbour front. They have done a fabulous job in creating a year round resort lifestyle. You can even get a cheap Chinese back or all over massage!
lusciousmile: Speaking of which.....i'm listening to U2- with or without you (1987) No sun here, though. Hey, wait , i can see the sun!
LOVE that song!!!
last weekend, coz of the fab beach weather we had, they played. 80's music all day long on the radio.
Should be more great weather this weekend also! Really makes me want to get a beach party going. Bare feet in the warm sand, the waves rolling in, sun setting, Midnight Oil and Dire Straits playing...way to go!

Nah, I was just checking out who were the scaredy cats!
Our SA beaches are pretty safe. Of-course, when we're talking ocean, well, nothing is guaranteed. And, the cleanest you will find anywhere. I can't even remember seeing any seaweed at Sellicks Beach. Only thing, there is absolutely nothing between you and the Antarctica from there. So even on the hottest day, the water there is mighty cooool. Sit in the ancient caves and watch the tide rolling in, and hear the sound of the sea and the light breeze, feel the sand between your toes, watch the sun set over the southern ocean....The most wondrous moments in anyone's life!
