Moema: No, you´re the one whoe said it. I said American foregin policy was the REASON they were bombed. Learn to read before you judge what other people say. And read the reply to your posts, too. Maybe you´re overlooking something again?
Yeah, and every other american on that thread think i got you wrong too.
lusciousmile: Yeah, and every other american on that thread think i got you wrong too.
Yeah, because they jumped to the conclusion just like you did. That´s why it´s hard to talk to people when they´re in a state of hysteria and fanatism. They only hear what they want, and that´s no different from the Taliban to me.

¨
The irony in your post.
You fail to see the reason behind this:
He is muslim whether he choses it or not, just because his father is musim. So, we congratulate him
yes I know, and you used an anology that does not acurately reflect the issue of humans separating along religious lines that are not true because Obama is not Muslim, does not profess allah (a gods religion)
Zilla makes me laugh btw ... mentioning a victory for allah or muslims would very much annoy some christians, that whether she intended to or not creates divisiveness. it will be hard enough as it is for him to enact policy in this world climate as it is without people celebratiing some religious dominance.
the diff between your zilla and allah, your zilla and god. Zilla is farely innocuous, the others extremely divisive in this current world climate.
I dont think the OP "intended" to create divisiveness, I just think upon reflection she might understand how the nature of such a comment can and does create animosity. We have enough of that without tossing religious victories on the fire
In his biography "The Audacity of Hope"...Obama was quoted as saying that he grew up in a predominantly non-religious home...(his stepfather viewed religion as not particularly useful)
Though his father was born and raised in a Muslim household...he was a confirmed "aethiest" (his father left when he was 2 and returned to Kenya)
Obama himself did not get exposed to religion until he started working as a community organizer in the black churches...he was baptized in 1988 at Trinity United Church of Christ....
I think the author of this thread is reading far too much into a name...perhaps in hopes of a president that will advance the muslim faith....however i do not see - granted from all that i have read on Obama, so its not personal knowledge - that Mr. President places as much value on his name as does the author here.
My name is Ursula...it is German...anyone who knows me and has met me knows for a fact that I AM NOT...it was just a name my parents chose....
"He is Muslim because he was born Muslim, and that´s how we Muslims see it. We accept him as one of us."
And I DON´T see: How Muslims having rights too, including the right to be happy because the man was elected is a bad thing.
You don't have the right to claim him as your own. He has something to say about that in America.
If this is you being happy I'd hate to see you upset! And talk about negativity and attacks, you're pretty good at that aren't you. A real poster child for immaturity

Gosh, nobody is claiming anything!!!! She just said she´s happy and this is the beginning of good changes. Now why everyone needs to get all upset about that, and why I can´t say it, is really something to question.
As for your judgement of my character, it eventually comes to that, doesn´t it? You´ve got to disqualify my reasoning somehow because it´s opposite to yours, then you call me whatever you like? That´s very mature. I´ve seen it a lot around here lately.
wikked: I am hoping that what you meant here was that Muslims are happy because "the man" was elected, and not "the man - with a muslim name" was elected....
Yes, that´s what I´ve been saying since the first post, you got it right!!!

My first name is english, only because my country is a british empire, and, i don't believe i would accept anyone telling me they understood me, because i am english.
It's just a name, people can comment on how nice or bad it sounds, but associating it with something it's not, would be wrong, because it just is.
Now, if they told me they understood me without mentioning their misguided reasoning (me being british), i wouldn't object to it.
lusciousmile: I am objecting the notion behind it, but accepted/accept the good wishes. Is that so hard for you to understand?Did you miss my 'as long as' and 'congratulations America'. Elementary engish, Moema! You are arguing over nothing!
I'm not surprised you skipped this Moema. You are clearly in your own little world.

Anyway. The last few days have taught me much. I´m glad I finally got both my feet in here to see what it´s all about, and I´m not leaving. There really are some fantastic people in here.

Moema is correct. The OP only congratulated "America" and expressed her happiness. That's all she wrote. The rest is interpretation. Perhaps she was thinking all kinds of terribly anti-American things, but there's no evidence for that in the original post.

No one is telling her not to congratulate Obama, but this being a thread, we have the right to object and debate about the reasons we present for our thinking.
You should have thought it through before attacking us, saying we were attacking her.
Take your own advice, take a minute to understand a post first.

I don't get this "immaturity" assertion - I've seen nothing but maturity in M's postings on this thread. She and Lushy just seem to be talking past each other as far as I can see...
