I was under the wrong impression when I first read Holly's post. My last name is my Late Husband's. My Father- in- law explained for their branch of the family, Malik, came from Poland recently. Before Poland, it was Manchurian. Dad said his ancestors said there were many, many meanings, for the last name of Malik. For them, though the most appropriate meaning is wanderer. Also, they are Catholics, I believe Dad said the Ancestor that came from Manchuria was Buddhist.
I was, as I said, mistaken when I first read Holly's post and I was going to use myself and my name to show how making assumptions on a name could give big surprises.
