This might sound a bit morbit...but seeing some are complaining about boring threads, let me pose this question: If you had the choice to know when your time is "up/over/finito" on this planet...would you take it?confused

NO, thanks.

I'd rather be driven by hope, for the rest of my days on earth.

thumbs up

Heck, that would take all the fun out of being morbid! tongue

It's weird that people who moan on and on about how miserable life is life longer, innit? rolling on the floor laughing (joking, but it is true of some people)

I think (not 100% sure mind you) that I'd rather have a shorter happier life without worrying too much about death than a long morbid life...........

Ok, so I've been very preoccupied with death the last five years, but I am SO VERY GRATEFUL that my dad died suddenly this August and didn't suffer for weeks and months........... I am honestly happier that he died while I was away in the UK (a few days before I was due to fly back out here) than if I'd managed to 'save' him and got him to hospital in an ambulance and seen him really struggle and suffer for a few more hours or days or weeks or even months.

He never quite lost his independence - he was just about able to walk and he maintained the dignity of going to the toilet by himself and dressed himself to the end...... even if it took him ten minutes and lot of 'f'ing and blinding' to get his trousers on without any help!

He said to me, shortly before he died, that he could not have coped with being paralysed like my mother (almost five years now, and zero hope of ever being able to walk again) - but then he was so selfish and would not let her die after her massive stroke - he willed her to live... and succeeded (even though two days after the stroke she slipped into a coma and looked so peaceful............ he would not ALLOW her to die!)

Death to me is something not to be scared about, but (like winning the lottery) best coming to you as a surprise!

I personally would take it as one can organise your life better around this "deadline" laugh Say goodbye to your loved one's(if any) and in general lay out a plan for your life. Too many people live life not realising that they could have done more. Too may regrets, too many negatives for most...but if they had known, maybe things would have been different for them...sigh
