I just got a CD with american Indian music.... and I must say it is the most relaxing and a complete joy to listen to.... even though i may not understand what is sung or what it means.... it is the closest thing I've heard to early Scottish music...

Cool...and yes, the drums and flutes of Native American music are very soothing and relaxing. I love meditating to it.

I've made my own drum and am working on my flute, and know a few songs.handshake

R. Carlos Nakai plays the flute very well.
He's recorded other cds but I have one he recorded with Paul Horn
in Canyon de Chelly in the southwest. This is a great cd to check out.
Very mellow, serene, has a track or 2 with chanting but mostly instrumental.

So it's Bruce Springsteen playing a Sitar, that's what you're listening to?

Frequently when I have trouble sleeping I listen to Native American music. Though I am not sure it really is native american, it is soothing, anyway

All the pow wows I have been to...have been capitalistic parties.

I go to the "Seminole" Indian Casino in Tampa, and have yet to see an Indian....unless they are all "blackfoot" The Native American is still being exploited and most don't even know it!!

My friends & I used to go to the pow wows too. And I love the music. So calming & soothing, good for meditation. Great for relaxing in the car too.
