looking back in time it would be nice to see what people regard as being the most definitive moments in history ? and also who were the most important people ?...and how they helped to shape the world !

was it christopher columbus ? jesus christ ? the coming down of the berlin wall ? 9/11 ? the person that invented electricity ? penicillin ?

Cristofero Colombo, definitely not, I'd say. What's so special about him? Jesus Christ neither.

Definitely the discoverer of penicillin , The Scot Alexander Fleming, but also the discoverer of vaccination (or more exactly the main person responsible for the introduction of vaccination, since the theory of injecting people with the pus from cowpox blisters may have been put forward by others as well), the English doctor Edward Jenner. I think these two saved countless millions of lives. What an achievement!

So now we gotta share our depleting water resources with these extra people?! Not to mention the world food shortage?! And all these extra millions will have grown up and be using transport and the oil has about reached its peak now ...... we`re on the downward slope of that resource. Think how much more would be available for all those extra years with less people....... And there`d be more rain-forests still standing, and more mangrove swamps, and more wetlands, and less city congestion, and less pollution, and less disposable nappy garbage ........................and less pc ejunk.......?jackolantern .... and less poor hungry people ........tinfoil hat ... and less reasons to find a new planet to inhabit .......transport

Hi Gilly, cool to see you wander in here laugh

My answers this time would be:

The cleverness of cooperation (food and protection)
The taming of fire (warmth and protection)
The taming of the winds and seas (sailing)
The invention of the wheel (added strength and speed)
The creation of written language (passed on exact knowledge)
The understanding of mathematics (proving exact knowledge)
The understanding of the magnetic North and South (blind navigation)
The taming of electricity (all that is modern)
The taming of explosion (combustion engines, mining)

I guess that is what I find the most important events of mankind
