Steevyv: for my hunting with eagles. Often in a mountains and forests where big predators live I need something small but efficient. Predators sized bear or Wild boar. Please advices. What would be your choice? Thanks.
Dknew: Try a Desert Eagle 50AE (AE stands for Action express)
Thank you, Dan...I couldn't remember the whole model name for the one I was thinking of, but I did remember it had Eagle and it was a .50 caliber pistol. That's the one I'd take. Big enough for bear, small enough to carry easily. I know a few guys that take these into the woods with them in bear country around here.
Conrad73: A 12-Gauge Shotgun using Slugs might be the answer. Probably less Hassle with the Licensing too.
Thanks God, somebody is on my side and wish to help me. But wont work. It is too big and I need something smaller but efficient. Question is : Pistol or revolver, company, type, gauge.. This tread is gone about everything else but not about I asked for advice. I thought that you gays from the States are experts .

i'm assuming ,when you say pistol, your talking about an automatic weapon?...if I went with an auto. against a grizzley, i would always be worried about it jamming.....therefore, a revolver would probably be your best bet

There have been a couple of very good recommendations for specific makes and models here. Read through again, and pay attention to the posts from dknew, rasgumby and myself. We've been recommending some very good options, complete with the caliber/guage, make and model for you.
.44 Magnums are made by most companies, choose one you like.
Desert Eagle 50 AE is a .50 caliber handgun that works very well for bear and other predators.
Both are handguns that are easy to carry with you while hunting and working with your falcons.
Or did you not want recommendations from us after all?
FredSilveira: Well, I think that is a good revolver, that "38" (brazilian name), or "Magnum" for you amaricans.
a .38 against a grizzley, or brown bear?.....i would'nt be happy with nothing less than a .50 cal....and even then i would be happy against a BIG grizz or kodiak brown

Nothing wrong with a shortened 12 guage. I had pump action I pistol gripped and sawed down just for "bear repellent". First round was #7 bird shot as a deterrent, then #00, then a slug, #00, then another slug. Never had to use it, but I lived in grizzly/black bear country and if there were a few of us out camping, I had it close by just in case. Not a big fan of auto's in the bush, so if your heart is set on a handgun, a .44 magnum with a long barrel is a good choice. Don't bother with "Saturday night specials" like .38s or 9mm, they're meant for shooting people, not large animals. They will likely just piss off a bear, not stop it.
jlw45: thats what i was thinking....you might as well have a pellet gun
Exactly...I'm with you guys...I wouldn't go into bear country with anything smaller than .50 cal handgun either. I would prefer to eat the bear, not have it eat me. And I don't hunt, so that's why I would choose this instead of a shotgun or rifle. Easy to carry, easy enough to shoot once you get used to it. Perfect for what he was looking for...and better than the .44 magnum in my books for bear country. I'd have the .44 magnum for personal defense, though, if I didn't have a preference for a SigSauer.40 caliber.

.50 cal.....a .44 mag. will fit inside a .50 cal jacket ....thats a bad dude
