well from a maintinance stand point ya should leave the seat down and just sit on it no matter if you are male or female
all those oopps i aimed wrong promotes the corrosion of any metal parts that you may hit hinges water lines and the such
not to mention the sanitation aspect what would ya do to yer puppy if it peed where it was not suposed to
just because you can (stand up and urinate) doesn't mean you should
you could go run someone down with yer car but i doubt if you plan to
and don't give me those macho lines about being whipped either till i worked maintainace i stood up to (if yer gonna stand up you clean the bathroom)

I agree if I HAD 2 choose-flush vs. up or down. I just don't want my cats to fall in, if they happen to wander in, and get curious. Toilets are uglu no matter what. I think they should make them look like a chair that coordinates with your decor, cause no matter how elegant or modern a bathroom looks -a toilet ruins it.
