Sure why not use emotions in a post. At times it would be rather boring if we didn't.... that is my opinion.

YOu raise a good question Vinny.

For me.

I see no problem with emoticons, to enhance a post.

But, lately, in some threads, that I am interested in, there have been sentence after sentence of, well. emoticons. Without words.

And I cancelled my subscription to Beano, around 27 years ago.

So, I am not against them, but I do find it tough to converse in them.

I agree that some are used way too much. The limit of 3 per post is a good rule to stick by. Although most, myself included, don't always go by that. But I wouldn't rule them out all together.

Hi.

I agree it can be hard to converse in them.

A lot of the Forums can be Light hearted and the use of them I find entertainin.

In some of the more serious threads they are not used so much.

Maybe it's a question of someones time they are willin to devote to their answer and Emoticons

help.

emotions are good if they help enchance a post but are off no use if the poster is using them because they are not articulate.

I have no problem with them.

When a person realises that 99.9% of forum members use an emoticon or two, every now and then, and always gets upset by this, then they should probably move on to Msn or Yahoo messenger, with the other .1% that feel the same way.

With 5 friends on yahoo, it's easier to monitor and have these limitations work. It is much better than whinning about it, every other second, insulting CS in its entirety (this would include CS staff)!

Have to agree Sommer, and when they are used wthout accompanyng text in a mean and spiteful way, as has been done especially for me tonight, then they are a cowardly way of communication.

3 per post would be a good rule of thumb as well.

But would we really be able to get across what we are tryin to say to the person only usin 3 ?

katiecharlyn: what LL,oh said!!!

i love them, and they are here to use!!! hey vinny!!!

its true ,
I remember when I first started using them,

thought it was like a new toy,

I mean it is harmless fun!

If you want to use them do,

if not don't ,

its really that simple ,

just because 2 people on here don't like them,

should every1 stop using them ,
when I write an essay for uni,

I don't use emoticons ,
when I have a meeting with some1 ,
I don't use emoticons,
when I go to bed and fall asleep.
I dont dream in emoticons ,
so like why can't I use them here
crying crying

each to his own surely ?
