vonney: emotions are good if they help enchance a post but are off no use if the poster is using them because they are not articulate.

Exactly, thats the whole point, to enhance a view, or show maybe that a statement is tongue in cheek, but when used in a malicious or condescending fashion then it just shows an ignorance of our beautiful language.

Hi Vonney, wave hope you're doing okay

gypsykisses: there was text, it was what you wrote that made me
and I did put it in bold for your convenience ...rudeness is perception...I perceived one part of your post as rude.

Sorry Gypsy, but there was nothing which could be construed as offensive in my post, it was to another member, not you, who I consider a friend. You used the vomit emoticon because you know I dislike it......and because I made a comment way back on your love thread, about how people can claim they are in love when they have never met. In a polite way I believe, and my view was concurred with others.

Looks as though I may have been right, but please correct me, and advance apologies if you are still together.

Sommerauer71: Indeed.

There are many threads here that are serious and emoticons can have their place, in that they reiterate a person's point.

From a fun aspect, they are great, the odd tongue one, and a grin, this one which I quite like.

But I do find it hard, to enter a thread, where there is nothing other than emoticons and no words.

So, I just do not bother.

Having said that, I can understand that people who are learning the language use them as a way of expressing something, hell, I learnt a new language, I began with pictures and children's books. I learnt it as I teach my students the English language.

To be clear, I have no problem with them, but I prefer words and good discussions.

Completely understand Sommer.

Would you agree that when we communicate that body language can play a large part in Communicating ?

I personally think because this is a datin site and people want to flirt a bit and joke a bit crossin

countries and continents that they can be a useful tool.

I know if I'm talkin to a Lady face to face body language I am watchin Body language.

Would you think that the Emoticon's while a pail imitation of expression would still assist ?
