I believe that the whole world is excited, for this is truly history in the making. When I was 18, blacks in many parts of the US could not use public washrooms nor restaurants.....and tomorrow, an Afro-American will become President. Not only that, but his middle name is Hussein. What a testament to the will of the American people to change and grow.

Every now and then there happens, a collective consciousness which moves the world forward despite our biases and "cast in stone", beliefs.

Although he will be inheriting a world in turmoil as never seen before, I ask that this world stand with him, for he is a brilliant man. Canada and the US., shares a common heritage, yet our countries are so different in philosophy and our interpretation of "The common good for human-kind". I believe that President Elect Obama will bring us closer together as neighbours. And as well, make former enemies throughout the world, closer to being friends.

As many people have said, he can't do much worse. A figurehead is a figurehead, regardless of his skin-color.

thumbs upawwwwww ... Paws good to see you closerlaugh
you are right, the expectations are high - perhaps too high for what he inherited - and people want to see that change pronto - unfortunately there is a lot of mess to clean up and diplomatic efforts will represent difficult choises to be made - but he has for sure great sympathies, also from around the world peace Congratulations to your new President applause cheering

If you S... in one Hand and Wish in the Other, which one gets full first?
So just let's wait and see.
Wish-dreaming usually leads to Disappointment, and that is especially true when it comes to Politicians!wave

Well the hope in the White House better get going. The Isreali ceasefire in GAZA was only for 10 days. And both sides of the DMZ in Korea have mobilized and are heading to war. A nuclear war most likely.

So?

President Obama has said his team will hit the job running. In the case of these international situations, if they not are running in the right directions and with the right package of military, diplomacy, and international cooperation then not much to resolve them will occur.

The Korean situation is a real sticky one. Obama want to break apart the group of 6 and negotiate unilaterally with North Korea.
BUT Kim, the Chairman of North Korea has been sick....meaning is he really the one in power?

And how can the US by itself without China and Russia place any real pressure on North Korea to stop a war? In my opinion, he needs to rethink breaking the group of 6, ASAP. Which of course, is exactly what GWB put together. Which is of course the last footprints that Obama wants to follow.

Interesting yes?

If the right direction is set and efficient hard-working people try their best, then the rest of us will have reason to celebrate this day too.

This is true. At least there is a US administration that recognises that it is a pudding! That is progress.

I agree. But leadership is needed and he looks like the best shot at that for the moment! I wish him well.

Everyone that has sat in that Oval Office, has had that feeling
of why me, why now, why this. If they were not Superman going in, they surely knew coming out that they were not.
