Something a little worrying happened today. I have had frostbite in the past in most of my fingers due to stupidity mainly and I know I have some nerve damage to my fingers. But lately, when it is a little cold out, nothing extreme, I lose all feeling in one of my fingers. The blood drains out of the finger, leaving it pale and colourless and I have to soak it in hot water to regain feeling. It lasted about 45 minutes today before I regained feeling and it really frightened me. I will address this to a doctor next week but was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

I´m not medically experienced, but I believe that the after effects of frostbite can be worrying. Happily in most cases, not serious and can heal in time.

I teach qualified medical students of English in the main and I remember talking about this some time ago.

See your doctor to set your mind at rest, but if you have any other unamswered questions or questions let me know and I´ll ask my students.

Thanks Jan,

Was convinced it was going to fall off today. I was out and about and bought a cup of McDonald's coffee and stuck my finger in there. Had a few weird looks from people. shock

Usually it is a poor circulation on that specific segment, foot or hand.
You have to have it checked by a doctor , there are treatments that are extremely efficient and will prevent that excruciating pain every time it gets in contact with cold.

It will get better in no time!
