Well diff family spend diff....we spend everything on food 
and most of the relatives r stuffed with 1/4 that we eat....not saying im reach they r poor just saying that we eat like pigs

25 to 40 Euro per adult and week in South Spain.
15 to 20 Euro/week and adult in Romania.
250 to 400 Euro/week for me here on Canarias

Thats hard to say, all depends on what their eating habits are like?We all eat butter, lots of folk here hate it, dont even know what it is!
My kids are voracious meat eaters and our freezers look like they belong in a butcher shop!
I`m a voracious vegetarian and one small fridge and the cellar has bags of that sort of stuff..... also things like couscous/beans/lentils/nuts/maizemeal/cheeses.
We go thru litres of milk, kids drink it, I bake with it, and we got 3 huge Tom cats who drink it!
I also spend huge amounts on non-perishables .... litres of cooldrinks, toiletries, cleaning stuff, etc in the hope that one day I dont have to go shopping anymore.......
Then there is the alcohol ...... crates of beer, wines, and other goodies to ward off the miseries of the long cold winters, or to while away the hot summers.
My cellar looks like a mini-supermarket! Just in case a someone Nukes the planet ... ha ha haaa... except we dont have a Bomb Shelter - so I will have to devise a plan to get from our designated shelter back here for the food!
So, sorry, I cant suggest a figure for an "average" family - my family is just not average - they`re too extreme.

Last time I shopped for a family of four was five years ago.
So then it would have been around 150GBP:
Now, it is me, and I spend about 20euros a week on me, to eat, although I do shed out a bloody fortune for my kids.
But I have this knack of cooking everything, so Iought convenience foods, always fresh and I cooked.

Last time I shopped for a family of four was five years ago.
So then it would have been around 150GBP:
Now, it is me, and I spend about 20euros a week on me, to eat, although I do shed out a bloody fortune for my kids.

No, I am much better now, I have put on weight.
I eat at school alot too.
It was moving countries and not being well, remember when my leg swelled, god that was awful.
I look healthy with a good glow in my cheeks now.

Howcome when you live alone grocery buying is so minimal, and when there`s other people involved there seems SO much to buy?!
Its like you gotta keep a mini-supermarket in your home that caters for all eventualities, from major accidents, burns, bites, shaving, carcasses of raw meat, entertainment rubbishy foods, ice-creams, batteries for all sized torches, CD recordable discs, cleaning fluids for everything from the car to the toilet, etc etc etc ............
When I lived alone, life was SO simple .. I just thought what I felt like eating and bought it! And could carry it in my hand without a multitude of carrier bags!

Yeah .. sad huh? I was delightfully single, just enough dates to take the boredom out of life ...... and then my youngest son broke up with his girlfriend and moved back in with mama (& my pet frog) and life got all complicated again. To escape, I moved to Switzerland, and now I`m shopping for an effing army of carnivores!

Well, I dont itemise my shopping - the Grocery budget just includes all the essentials needed in the home that get bought at supermarkets. So I spend, for 5 people, per month, about Euro 1,200.... Yeah, so that works out at about 48 Euro each per week, huh?(I`m not big on maths)That includes alcohol, all mineral drinks, meat, general foodstuff, vegetables & fruits, and cleaning stuff. But then I also grow a lot of veges and fruit, or get from my neighbors.
