I think with all the downsizing going on with hundreds of thousands losing their jobs and the businesses losing money, I think with in the next few months there is going to be a commerial building crisis, that will make the housing crisis look like a molehill.. Companies going banrupt and out of business leaves alot of empty buildings and building space, who is going to move into them.....Who's going to fill their shoes(country song)laugh

Then with people still putting all their debt, probably many house payments too, on credit cards, I think again, within a few months because of not having a job, people won't be paying on their cards, which I've never own a credit card and never will, but they will be crashing too........

future looks very grim to me....

your thoughts.

Your post shows a lot of insight and forward thinking. I'm impressed. The credit card scenareo is already playing out and has been for a while. But I agree it can only get worse. Older people like me have a distinct advantage over young folks in that we've sort of been here before so in a way we are better equiped to deal with times like this.
When times get really bad one of the first things to go is pride. Moving back home with the parents, taking a 2nd crap job just to get by or any job etc.

I was talking to my father about this not to long ago I feel that in the no too distant future you are right, familys will have to live together just to afford the morgage, or rent. I am lucky in that I do not have, nor ever will have a credit card. except my current car, everything I have is paid for, and if I dont have cash I dont need it. though given my job, I have a low overhead in life.

You have the right idea. If you don't have the money, don't buy whatever it is no matter how much you may want it. But in truth, a credit card is a tool just like the ones in your toolbox, if you use it improperly you're gonna mess something up. It takes a lot of discipline to own a credit card and I would say that probably 80% of people with them rutinely pay finance charges to their credit card co because they can't pay off the bill when it comes.

this is true, but I prefer not to have the temptation, I have had friends file bankrupcy over credit cards. not my cup of tea.

I agree with both of you OOBY and Slim...cheers

I'm kinda lucky, I've always been poor so I won't have too many adjustments to make... But it will still get a little worse for me as well, but I barely have the basics now... I've never been very worldy....cheers

The poor just keep getting poorer and poorer. I'm one of them. LOL

Anyway, I've given up trying to make ends meet by living on my own. I haven't lived on my own in almost four years now. Been sharing the cost of living with family members. You gotta do what ya gotta do! Thankfully, I've only ever had one credit card. And that's been done and over with for years now. I don't have that much debt. Thankfully!

Where are all the libs on this one? Isn't Obama the savior going to fix all of our problems for us?
With his great mind and that of his Turbo Tax advisors, why is anyone worried?

I've never owned a credit card either.... But I could never get a loan own my own, because of the policy NO credit is worse then bad credit....dunno I'm not even going to get into how ignorant that is.... But I do think it was made that way for a reason, I'm not a conspircy(mis spelled) theorist but The government wants way to find out everything about what we do. a credit card is one of the ways they can do this...They can track us through it... Can't wait until the Viri Chip is mandatedthumbs down which niave people now adays think it will never happen, but they will promote it as a great thing and most people will end up getting one... then there will come a point where they will be mandated to accept them (mark of the Beast is what I truely think it will be.... sorry to get off topic...JMOcheers
