Oh i think we are currently ok, its the people east of here some are possibly in grave danger including Buchan, Orbost through to the Cann River area, and Bonang even maybe people in southern NSW will be impacted by the numerous fires burning out of control with gale force winds now driving the fires towards Sydney

NSW has number fires burning, while few of the East Gippsland fires are just below the NSW Boarder, just across the boarder from Delegate

Fifty bushfires and grassfires are burning across NSW, with flames encroaching on two major highways.

there are quite a few firs right throughout the whole Gippsland region.

One of the open cut coal mines is under threat, Hazelwood Power Station has also been threatened, and wide area around.

Over the hills in South East Gippsland there is an out of control fire going in Madayla, this is the fire that is in my parents area. If they cant contain this one it will threaten a lot of homes, farms and state forests.

5 years since the last time a bad fire was in this area burnedblues

Well Robo we'll get some red sunsets yet ,if it stops raining and the clouds clear. Are these fires big enough to flush the wild dogs and dingoes into open country ? Cleaning up the dogs while the place is on fire might be a distraction from the main battle but a worthy one if guys are having losses like the place up the road from over the whole state .

Yes Jem, we are currently covered in smoke from i think those fires, I believe there are lots of fire fighting resources in that area, the forest plantations have there own fire brigades which are often better resourced than government services, so hopefully any of your relatives will be ok.
I observed Gunns in Tasmania very effectively managed a fire near St Helen's with the equipment they came up with.

NZ Herald just posted this news

New Zealand firefighters helping to battle bush fires in Victoria are unable to leave their base because of the "extreme'' fire danger.

More than 40 New Zealand firefighters are in Australia, but New Zealand Rural Fire Authority liaison officer Russell Barclay told Radio NZ from Melbourne that the crews had been confined to their base.

"Because of the way the fires are at the moment the guys are all in the base camp because the Australians aren't prepared to put them out on the fire line, or any of their firefighters, just with the conditions at the moment,'' he said.

"With the winds coming through at the moment, they're blowing all over the place, so there's fairly extreme fire danger going on.''

All good here rob although that big fire is still burning in the Grampians. Weve been told to stay alert but the temp has dropped dramatically so that's a blessing. Stay safe and keep vigilant. hug

Oh i dunno, nobody would be venturing into the forest round here, while total fire ban is in place can't drive tractor or anything, though that probably get lifted tomorrow the area of bush round these parts be as big as half the north island NZ
anyway the Kiwi fire fighter probably had a big hangi on there camp door step today. Big fire makes big vapor cloud like posted above and whole area probably be no go area for weeks

to bigger scale for what I was thinking . Looks like your grass would still carry a fire on the right of one pic .

yeah sure would, i cut along the race fence like i did last year month ago. Today for a moment passed my mind to drive up the big hill to picture-took be dropped the thought on account the long grass, its everywhere, though the front paddock and another have been eaten out hard as possible, a flock still at it so hopefully would be able to do something round the buildings.
However what went by over the hill today thankfully went other direction, nothing would slow tat sort of moving blaze, no chopper or any other craft would fly anywhere near it either, really big fire epirb
