I block all countries except Australia/New Zealand, that cuts out most of the scammers and if any do get through they're easy enough to spot.
I never had any problems with scammers contacting me, if it were 5 in all the time I'm here, it might have been a lot.
I blocked ALL incoming mail because I got sick of the "ride requests" of locals who don't bother reading a profile.
I'm not looking on here, so I don't need to read the mostly unpleasant mail coming in locally. There are some great peeps from other countries I like keeping in contact with, who are interesting, funny and articulate and it's nice to share a laugh and thoughts with them.

At least the scammers were mostly polite. A lot of "genuine" guys turned instantly abusive when told there was no interest for whatever reason.

Yes, had that happening and stopped replying to guys I had nothing in common with. Who do they think they will attract with that behaviour?

At least it proved my gut feeling was right to say no in the first place :)
I feel bad not replying if someone's messaged me, but sometimes it's more hassle than appearing ignorant.

I did reply to all emails in the start, but because of the stuff I was getting back from some "gentlemen", I stopped.
It's a shame really.
