Happy Samhain!

The chill's arrived, the crop is in.
It's time for feasting to begin.
The smell of baking fills the night,
And time has come for bonfire's light.

Let's raise a mug of hearty ale,
In lantern's shine from hill and dale.
To toast the harvest and the feast,
And gather round the roasted beast.

While gathering from near and far,
We'll make a wish upon each star.
Haul in the wood and light the fire,
This is a feast not fun'ral pyre.

The veil is thin between the sides,
Where living lives and death resides.
So don your mask and chase away,
The evil spirits on this day.

Cool. Goooo Pagan. Not enough Pagan males for all the little witches out there. For a Christian male, being married to a Wiccan is probably like being married to The Ghost Whisperer. Eep!

It was an education reading this poem because it made me Google 'Samhain'. Never heard of it before and I should be ashamed seeing as it has Gaelic connections and I'm living in Ireland doh Sounds like a fun a hearty time thanks for the insight FAL cheers

cool write, FAL!

'Salt the dead, you close the veil
The changer of shapes is alone on hooves
And the autumn's cold brings the pagan dead
Who seek the warmth of the Samhain fire
Do you want a paradise
Do you want a sacrifice
This is the night to laugh at death
This is the night to feast and dine...'

Thanks Witchaywoman! Not really a pagan, but have attended some meetings and used to belong to a group way back when.

I complete my degree this week after 3 years study, what I will remember are the tutors constant words, 'show me don't tell me....'
This poem shows in words what harvest is all about.
Loved it....Niahteddybear
