Feral words that demand freedom Strain against the trap of my heart; Wild eyed and stomping, They quiver, whirl and falsely start.
They struggle in their confinement Jostling, circling they seek escape; Round the perimeters They somehow form and shape.
Feral words that demand freedom Have charged and broken down the gate; Bucking and snorting, They run blindly into their fate.
A great abyss swallows them whole They run through the bit and it's pull; Never to be seen again Words escaped from a heart too full.

About this poem:
Defining words of horses. This was written on an observation of rounded up two-year old colts and fillies. At birth they are imprint trained, halter and lead broke. Then they are turned out to pasture to grow and thrive. At their two year birthday, they are rounded up and vaccinated, gelded as needed and saddle trained. Imprint training works wonders. After a few tense moments, they settle down and remember the imprint training. They handle very well and training them is a breeze. :-)
Horses are indeed peacefully alert. Magnificent in their presence and carry themselves of pure poetry in motion. :)
So glad you enjoyed this. :)

This is awesome. Great, interesting poem on horses, and the wording.... truly seems like it could be an allegory for a poet(I may have used allegory incorrectly here-I know what it means, but can't remember at the moment-lol. I could've waited til I'd had some sleep, but I'd read this and about 30 other poems earlier, and it seems I've missed your poems, so wanted to comment NOW... will have to wait for the remaining 25 - though I'd love to do so now if I could).
You made the first comment on the very first poem I wrote here. That was a huge surprise... AND greatly appreciated!
XO Cat (tried to find a horse emote here & the reindeer just wouldn't do, so will leave it at...)
It was such a sweet surprise that you commented on this bit of work., Yes, I remember commenting on your first work. It's always a nice way to break the ice and make new friends. :) I made my niche here and while work and life have taken me far away from my lap top, I will try to be back here more frequently.

You are one soul here who also understands how horses just capture us. :)
