"Ear of thought," of your voiceless thought within, or of your spirit in the wind or elsewhere "in these woods", - you are in constant quest for only you know what, or the object you aspire to transcends mere notion. It may be nature to which you aspire, allayer of all your sorrows, as described here:
"There is a quiet spirit in these woods, That dwells where'er the gentle south-wind blows; Where, underneath the white-thorn, in the glade, The wild flowers bloom, or, kissing the soft air, The leaves above their sunny palms outspread. With what a tender and impassioned voice It fills the nice and delicate ear of thought,.." ("The Spirit of Poetry" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)
