the tree with leaves which growth has reached the eaves?
why is your garden so overgrown? and why is your’s so manicured?
sheets and towels blowing so ready for their next wrap
all so pegged in uniform
purple is cool brushing up against the sheets
a happy home is there sorted? Loved?
I have four pegs that sit alone 2 blue 1 red And one old wooden one
That wooden one is my favourite Reminds me of Nana
Her name was Minnie
She sat with her stout in her house on Old dominion road
Cherie’s wonderful lark
Up a hill To sit on the mushrooms
Right next to Potters Park

About this poem:
This is about my great grandmother Minnie Adams who lived in Mt Eden, and my sister and I would stay with her at times, she was 99 when she died. She came to New Zealand from California in her young teens, and went with her husband to go go kauri gum digging. What a beautiful amazing lady.
Kauri Gum, what is that, is it like a truffle? I used to go morel hunting in May with my dad. I loved those things, coated in eggs made thick with flour and fried in two sticks of butter, great stuff!
