As the sun rises ... so does the soul gracefully floating ever higher free of the tethers that hinder its flight. As the sun sets ... so does the soul Ever fearful ... lost in the darkness for what seems an eternity. Eventually the sun will rise once more... bringing its energizing rays soothing the spirit... preparing for days of overcast skies building strength and courage to face the darkest night. And with every day the sun does rise it will be brighter.... warmer ... higher in the sky the days ... longer the nights ... more peaceful ...

About this poem:
Inner strength and peace is derived from facing and conquering our challenges ... Our challenges are the dark forces (night) that test our resolve ... our resilience (day) gives us the ability to overcome our "nights" making each subsequent challenge less traumatic to our existence

I have a different view of how inner peace is derived. But i guess i like your angle as stated in the footnote M.M
