No Man is an Island

A tear drop in the ocean
Rushes in the tide
Water surrounds us like an island
Casting destiny
With its calm indifference.
And the stormy winds of confusion
In the solitude where we hide
We can’t see through the blindness
Of what might really be

Shadows of dark prophecy
You make mothers cry.
And all those closest to the heart
We can no longer see.
For no man is an island
But it depends solely on the view
And how far we drift out to sea
Caught in the tides of our reality
Floating evermore

We remember our days gone by
All not spent in vain
Overwhelmed like a tidal wave
That comes crashing down.
We work life’s fields endlessly
To reap the glorious seeds we sow,
For no man is an island
But he forever stands alone
Cool, cool oceans surround us …
To one day set us free
