---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ---- August 19, 1933 - May 23, 2010 is what the tombstone read If I could talk to them today I wondered the words that would be said What a life, an adventure this person must have lived All that they have seen, all that they did
But this date spoke to me in ways only a soul could ever hear So I started to listen with my heart and not with my ears The dash in the middle is where the journey of life begins Not the born on date and surely not in the end
For what you do in between determines where our road will lead Its not what you have done but rather what we do that brings us peace So when I lie down in my bed am I grateful for the day And when I am in my final rest will I have a smile on my face
pay it forward... your poem reminded me of that... I must say it takes a certain kind of person to be able to sit calmly and listen with his heart... I very much agree...the beginning and the end is made much more special by what the dash in between stands for. Loved it...enjoyed the read very much... and respect to you dear poet...
Jesse - how awesome to think that the dash in the middle is the best part, the living part. Kudos to you sir for doing this job of finding loved ones that have passed away.
I really like your poem and the idea of the dash in the middle

Very well done. its good to do it for the dead ones for good memories and respect. But while still living and no one cares to do the same, it's more than a dead life, good for the dead. Thank you.
