Yesterday is just a memory a reflection of what tomorrow could bring
but its really up to us to want a change
If with just one voice or a group of words could bring salvation to our lonely world
I would write a poem every single day
With words of hope that fill us with joy and brings laughter to little girls and boys
But its obvious something is incorrect
Because in all of our hearts something is torn apart or missing a piece somewhere in the dark
And sometimes instead of love we feel the absence
We want our rights to bear our arms in fear that someone wants to cause us harm
But maybe we can talk it over
At a united table of the human race I'm sure we all have much to say
Without fear driving and making us feel nervous
So what if we could set aside our difference that make worlds collide
Could we write a new day in history
Without mans written policies, religions, or hypocrisy
No holy books to predetermine our destiny
Build a spaceship to fill with all our weapons and send them to oblivion
Then plant a garden of flowers for peace
Because if thats the case mine is parked outside its cherry black doors are suicide
And its powered by all of our dream
I hope its not the death of me that one day finally sets me free
I want to see this through to the end
No more wars and no more pain no more senseless digging graves
A world full of friends we just haven't met
But this is just our nature its who we are one hand brings us honor the other is scarred
As we continue trying to make sense
One eye looks for beauty the other looks away, but our hearts are reflected by what our tongues say
So maybe we should learn to enjoy a little silence

But then we would not learn how precious love and peace can be, and we would not have words like this that mean so much, because it would be expected?
Maybe its meant to be for a reason
Then plant a garden of flowers for peace
We, the CS poets in this forum, only have words to give one another. And we all pour out our hearts and share real friendship, reveal ourselves as you have done in this wonderfully written poem. Thank you for sharing your friendship, Jesse.
I quite like your style - poets have, since time immemorial been a conduit for influencing the masses and their political masters by railing against the worlds injustices.
You are treading a well worn, but worthwhile path in chronicling what you see as the ills of the world in this fashion: And oh! Through the ages poets HAVE made a difference - a very considerable difference.
A very good write.
