The setting sun in all her glory Made evening sky blush... Hues of orange, red and gold splashed here And dashed there with a bold stroke Clouds stood still as she lowered herself Into the mountains' cradle... The birds sang a lullaby And the crickets joined the chorus Boys and girls, playing hopscotch Called in to dinner By tired moms And dads crawled in from labor and toil To be greeted with smiles of hope and love Lamps were lit and curtains drawn None had time to view the glory That was the setting sun Another day had come and gone
Such a beautiful sight to see , a colourful sunset you have described the end of the "Day's end " , for the sun and for families so wonderfully Diana . As always , it is a joy to read your poetry -warm regards -F
Hi Diana, it is strange how we can miss the glory of the beginning and end of the day. You do paint your canvas so well and bring the reader in. You do paint your sky so wonderfully. Then the sun is gone to her slumber. Who looks, as you say, everyone is doing there own thing. Yes, i really enjoyed this one. Have a god day. Catch you later. Your Friend....MIKE.
Beautiful, I would light a candle for that one Diana, excellent piece...Jesse

Hi Diana
Your poem took my breath away. It is really beautiful. Your description of the sunset is exquisite. The image of the sun lowering itself into the cradle of the mountains is unique. I love how you balance the beauty of nature with the beauty of the actions of human life ranging from the children playing to the daily activities of the adults, moms and dads included. There is a tinge of sadness towards the end that the beautiful picture you painted in the first part went unnoticed by human beings because none had the time to do so, being caught up in the responsibilities of daily life. Your poem is a masterpiece. Have a nice day!

Visiting again diana.. I just love your poem!
The range of emotions that run through this write, and, it's amazing how such beauty that moves in stillness remains present to us, even when we're not paying attention... it's there loving and supporting us, whether we acknowledge it or not
