Yesterday is not Tomorrow

So long ago you took my heart
and broke my heart in two.
The years may come and go,
but I remember, I still do.
The pain has since receded,
yet your face will come to mind.
And I tell myself remember that
not everyone's unkind.
The road of life still goes along
with twists and many turns;
It's life itself that holds the key,
my heart anew can learn.
Traveling on, a door may open
somewhere down along the way.
Slowly stop, hold on to courage,
grab your heartstrings
and go play.
