DESPAIR!
My old friend Despair,
He never leaves my side,
He tells me no one cares,
That there's no one else besides.
He sticks closer than a brother,
As though he was my friend,
But he does not give me comfort,
When I wish my life would end.
In fact, he is the reason,
That I would leave this place,
That I would take my life and plead,
Dear God, forgive my haste!
He says he wants what's best,
But then tells me I should quit,
He says "kill yourself and end this mess!"
But I still want to live!
So it's time we finally part ways,
And agree to disagree,
For me there will be better days,
This I MUST believe,
And not Despair!

About this poem:
No matter how bad your situation is, it will change, and when you've finally hit rock bottom there's nowhere else to go but up! "Why art thou cast down, oh my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, whose is the health of my countenance, and my God." Psalm 42:11

Once recovered, are things tastier?
Does despair a poet make?
I know your pain, hense your joy.
I too stared into the abyss.
Strength and resilience are built upon the level of fight we put out in life. And the last lines offer a very positive flow of a new hope. Thanks Joseph..
I have known dark despair...I also know it does not last forever...so a sweet song to lift the soul
Thank you for sharing
