ARE WE REALLY DIFFERENT

ARE WE REALLY DIFFERENT

We are not so different in
what we think and do
The difference that some look at
is in our skin tones hue.

It's not what's on the outside
that makes a friendship start
It's what we have inside us
what is within our heart.

No friendship can be seen
as red, yellow, black or white
They are based on love
and what is wrong or right.

Friendships are also caring
the gentle loving kind
And another thing so great is
friendships are color blind.

There are no mountains
you can not climb
Nor deserts bleak and bare
no rivers that you can not cross
when you have a friend to care.

A friend is always there and will dry
your tears for you
And give to you some sunshine
when your world seems blue.

Friends are friends no matter what
red, yellow, black or white
Don't be afraid if you see your friend
to hug them nice and tight.

They may need some sunshine or
just a little lift
And the love you give in friendship
is such a precious gift.

Your are so right...friendship involves the heart... Friends mean having another to share our good times and the bad ones too. If you have many good friends....you have many blessings!
Enjoyed your writing about an important part of life.

Cannot agree more with what you say, dear poet. A powerful message I would call it - the more people read it the better is the world. I remember once writing on this here site inspired by the same feelings:

We're all the same

In our brotherhood of men
We are the same, we're just the same.
Tree lives and grows, and falls and dies,
So does a man. In pain and strife
He's born, then grows and dies the same,
We're all the same, we're just the same.

In our brotherhood of men
We try to move to better end,
Well knowing, life is but a thread,
Which stretched tight will give and break,
Being the same we're more than safe.

In our brotherhood of men
We'd never know what's best for men,
Much weaker we would be and break,
But for the knowledge we're the same,
Cause we're same, we're all the same.

In our brotherhood of men
Our human nature strives for best.
This is what matters in the end,
Forgetful of or knowing well
We are the same, we're just the same.

Many thanks for sharing and best wishes for the coming holidays!teddybear

Strong message, but the bigots shout the loudest, but they are thankfully a minority.
