All she wanted was to feel loved Mother didn't want her Wouldn't give her up Nothing she could do was ever good enough No matter how hard she tried She was made to cry She always tried to please Only to be teased She began to act tough Only made life rough Her self esteem was poor She was always being called a whore If only they knew She had never been kissed She became a mother She fed her children with lots of love, hugs and kisses Mother didn't break her She cause her to set a goal To love her children more then life itself This little girl with a great big soul
A very potent and powerful poem Abby. The power to overcome at all odds - a loveless child who broke the cycle and showered love upon her own children that she didn't get. Thanks for sharing. A girlfriend
Good for you Abby. I worked at Social Services for 20 years and it does my heart good to see a child brought up in such circumstances break the cycle and succeed to be a good mother and dearly love her children. Blessings upon you and your children and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!! A 1/2 dozen red roses from your children to you!!
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart .on mothers day I always celebrate my children's birth with them I believe there should be a day set aside that we celebrate children's day. Thank you souch for the roses . Have a very Happy Mothers day

Hi Abby, I wonder if your mother could have essentially written the same poem. If so, perhaps something within her breaking brought you to something more whole.
Happy Mother's Day, Abby
