People that i get to like
Always go away
Is it me?
Or is it them?
I hug my loneliness
Round me
Like a worn-out overcoat
Threadbare and tattered
Never let them get too close
Hide the emotions well
Don’t let your face
Tell what’s going on inside
Let them in
You know how it will end
Tears and heartache
-And wanting them to
S.T.A.Y.

Stunning heartfelt write!

We all harbor the fear of being hurt...as we all have felt the horrific pain of 'being left...or of being alone'.

At times it is so much easier to put up that wall that protects us; but think of the pain it causes those that do not really want to leave us; those who truly care; those that die a little inside because they cannot reach us.

Perhaps if we let them know how we felt, they would chose to S.T.AY.

I too feel the same way - I'm sensitive and have a tender heart. People tend to try to run rough shod over me and poke fun at my serious nature saying I worry too much. Oh well. Thanks for sharing and thanks for reading my poem.
