Black Saturday - A Tribute

As a nation we watched with bated breath
Mourning all those who could not escape death
Saddened by the enormity of the damage
Australia stood still as the Victorian fires savaged
All Australian's watched and prayed
As lives and homes were lost to Black Saturday
Your loss, your pain, burning embers in our hearts
The wildfire so fierce tearing families apart
We watched helplessly as your homes were taken
Australian's nationwide felt their duty awaken
We will do anything to get you back to your lives
Unity in disaster is the message underlined

About this poem:
This poem is about the Black Saturday Victorian bushfires. I remember watching the news with tears as the fatalities rose every day. I was impressed with the effort that all of the country put in with donations and support.

Thank you for your poem. So much like a tribute to the time. I live where we have been hit by some mighty storms and yes it is surprising how people will pull together. At least the majority. bouquet
