~Broken~

My tears fall like rain
Rolling down my cheeks
Still I feel no shame..

A love that is broken
Inside my chest
My heart seems as a jagged token…

The one I love has abandoned me so
I look here and there not knowing where to go..

I cry out in the feeling of what I lost
Knowing just how much it all has cost …

My soul cries, the hurt runs deep
I set here with hands covering my face
As the pain in my life makes me weep..

I will never be the same
A chill runs through my body
With the whisper of your name..

Questions run through my mind
Answers I cannot find…

Why oh why did it end
A lifetime I wanted to spend…

With the one that stole my heart
He won it with soft words and sweet deeds
A love that grew each and every day from the start..

Know it’s going to take a while
Before I have a smile…

Ellie, this poem, with personal pronouns changed from 'HE' to 'SHE' is the story of my life! Great poem! Thanks for reminding me of my broken heart! When it hurts... it's evidence that there's still one there! :-)
