Haiku

Field of daffodils
brazen yellow, sun kissed
petals, brightly greet

The dawn of the day
magically the sun rises
flooding with colour

Gently the stems quake
as caught by the breeze they shake
quiver in its wake

Matching yellow bird
soars over the display of beauty
adding its sweet notes

A vision of bliss
such a simple little thing
the joy of nature

Wind Snow Seagull

Wind howling forlorn
thundering through the tree tops
branches crashing down

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Snow swirling, whirling
coating all in pristine white
like diamonds glinting

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Hear the lonely shrieks
as seagulls twist and hover
over the fishing boats

Four Haiku's

Icy is the breeze
as it flows over the Tundra
making big snow drifts

Cheeky monkey waits
until your back is turned
then steals all your fruit

Golden ray of sun
blazing paths full of sunlight
warms as it touches

Rain teeming downward
flooding the marshy grasslands
beware the bog lands

Glow

Glowing in loves hold

Rain tenderly touching me

Crossing mountains peak

Haiku 2 (lonesome nightingale---)

6am and falling rain
bed! how cosy you feel
this morning

wobbly legs misstep
toddler tumbles to the floor
screaming with fright

lonesome nightingale
serenades the airwaves
searching for his soul mate

mantis catches butterfly
I am very sad; yet, that is
the way of nature

motorcycle roars
penetrating the night
shattering the silence

on the waterfront
ocean liner calling her flock
- the loud blaring horn

Haiku 1 (diamonds in the snow---)

what new plant is this?
flowering bees this morning
and butterflies too

at the roadside
solitary flowering weed
vision of loveliness

look! in the garden
the poinsettia is bringing
its first Christmas

walk softly please
streetlights are making
diamonds in the snow

blown in with the wind
hummingbird nuzzles a bloom
and is blown away again

perched on the treetops
iguana closes its eyes
soaking in the sunshine

the new doorkeeper
of this deserted house
one mister spider

loud feathered thud
- flight into eternity
deceptive glass pane

About this poem:
For those who may not know, Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. The standard structure consists of three lines in which the first line consists of five syllables, the second has seven syllables and the third has five syllables.
"Haiku is a finger pointing at the moon. If the hand is bejewelled, we no longer see that to which it points." The idea is to draw attention to what is being said and not to the words used to say it.

Flowers and Sky

Tulips in the beds
wave their beautiful petals
the sun beams on them

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Roses glimmering
jewels every one of them
a perfect picture

Star light cloaks the world
each a twinkling delight
a promise of dreams

Like an Angel

Shimmery wings spread

Golden halo on her head

She captures my heart

her aura so dazzling bright

she bestowed a peaceful smile

Beauty

Cascading fields of
waving green caress the quiet
hills with nonchalance.
