A heart full of love
given: expecting the same
but waiting in vain

She came down running
from the frosted virgin snow
stood on the roadside
in the evening winter glow
as the northerlies did blow

caught in the moment
reflection in a window
who covets their time
It's a sad sad song
beyond all hope of appeal
holding your photo
stealing from Dylan:
Along the watchtower
all the women came and went
princes kept the view

“In the future,
all parts of the body and brain,”
the professor beamed
at his rapt audience
“will be replaceable.”
“PROMAN will pursue
his ever-adjustable programs
forever.
He will affix to and discard from
his body, as required,
all that is in need of renewal.”
"He will function faultlessly
as per The Blueprint.
‘Imperfect’ man and ‘polluted’ Earth
will at last be done with.”
“Does that mean there’ll be no more
Father Xmas?” a student asked, aghast.
“Sorry,” the professor dourly replied;
“no chimneys likely.”

Sky pierced by stars
The game of connecting dots
Constellations twinkle
The last bird singing
In the chorus at sunrise
Singing from his heart
The portrait wanted
To move outside the frame
Something new to try
Wrapped in quilt of dreams
From the fog of sub-conscience
Words precipitate
Waves wash away my steps
A blanc page to start over
Leaves swayed by the breeze
The lost outsider
Bumped into the world’s problems
Bruises and scratches

By sand drift and sea
a girl in bright feathered green
Gatsby and champagne
Lend me your cloche
flappers dancing the Charleston
jazz and etiquette
tennis racquet times
romance in the Duesenberg
picnic on the Sound

Sunrise, ocean waves
a woman walks a small dog
courage for the day
a tree peeling bark
summers come and winters go
little insects watch
