Conrad73: send Seventyfive percent of them on Unpaid Leave!
we might find out if that 75% had saved for their own future,,seeing as if this really does cut off all those people, and there are a lot,,friends,,my Mother,, those people would be forced to take some kind of action,,,and many could just die on the street. I don't know what will happen but I really do believe that like most of politics they have other reasons for not only doing this but to make way for future decisions that one might not have gone along with,,,A lot of overpaid,,just as there are so many underpaid..so the pendulum shall swing far to one side as it always does in history,,,
Cowhand: Oh the matter is... you guess what... the ones who made it big time bad, of course want's the others to take the blame...... As usual.....Money makers never take the blame for their own faults.... who made the Financiel crisis ??? who started that...????Will they ever learn ... no, no. no........ and so it goes on and on.......
Moneymakers can't afford Crises like that! Money-Moochers need them!
leigh2154: Many do not realize the debt ceiling has "often" been raised by government...74 times in the last 49 years to be exact... Pros include avoiding a funding crisis and avoiding default on current loans, which if defaulted on, would trigger "World" wide panic in financial markets.... Cons include letting government continue to operate "beyond" its' means and "allowing" ballooning debt to continue...."allowing" it to grow unchecked.... I am all for checks and balances....Even so, as an "Independent" voter, I am in favor of raising the debit ceiling, BUT only with deficit reduction and spending cutbacks as a condition, along with putting the cutbacks "in place" immediately....
That seems to be the nuts and bolts of what the republicans, in general, want. Raise the debt ceiling and meet our obligations, but include serious and immediate cuts to spending sufficient to keep our triple-A rating. And that's what democrats DON'T want. They want the cap to be lifted and lifted by a wide margin. They want to offset that with a trillion dollars in tax increases and three trillion dollars in gimmicks posed as "spending cuts".
The solution that passes both houses and gets signed will be:
* A large lift of the cap enough to let Obama spend throughout his term as he pleases. (democrats won't budge on this)
* A small set of immediate spending cuts (a bone they'll throw to republicans)
* A large set of "future" spending cuts that are all smoke and mirrors designed just to allow them to claim that "technically they're spending cuts". (spending cuts that aren't spending cuts, compliments of democrats).
And life will go on with not much chanaged except that the latter will probably still cause us to lose our triple-A rating, which is the biggest problem we're really facing.

"Cuts" which are actually just less spending,NOT "Cuts" at all! Spending as if they're Mad,instead of spending as if they were INSANE!
All Obama is going to do if the Debt Ceiling is raised is spend more money for his useless projects when translates into more taxes for the people to pay. I can't wait until the average American see that this guy is trying to destroy America through useless spending. Not one program that he came up with worked but cost billions in tax payers money.

It's pretty amazing that someone is accusing me of bashing my country when I don't feel that I am by posting my true and honest opinions about what's taking place regarding the debt ceiling issue or any other issue which affects my life or anybody elses life.I have just as right as any other US citizen to voice my opinons whether they be a popular or not.
Just because I'm upset with both political parties I wouldn't necessary consider that bashing my government. If I don't get involved or concerned then I'm just as much to blame as the ones who make all those decisions in the political arena.
I feel that both parties are wrong in what they're doing right now and if they really cared about the ones who put them into their postions they would be doing what's right.
Now the vote on the bill that the speaker of the house has been dealing with has been postponed cause he can't get enough votes out of his own party and that's pretty bad/sad whatever one wishes to label it all.
I'm not apologizing for how I feel about the whole process.

Don216: $9 Trillion to 14 in less than 3 years. Thankfully everyone has a job, no mortgages are in default and GDP growth is over 3% ..... Oh, WAIT ...
Must be all that change we were promised!! Don't see much hope though.
Ibotabo: This palls is for the current economic situation America is in right now, and it has been expected to default on august 2. The media had just report that Democrats & republicans are going to vote for a plan not accepted even by the president, what you think will happen? What you would like to happen?
Since the democrats took control of the senate in January 2009, they have yet to produce a budget for a floor vote. Every budget sent to the senate by the current republican controlled house has been reject and no conference committee to work out any possible differences between the 2 houses has not been authorized by the democrat leadership. The current democrat plan being floated would add over $10,000 in debt for every man, woman and child in the U.S. and there is no end in sight. Even the house speakers current proposal would still add $9T to the debt by 2020. So, the choice is to be $23.5T in debt under the republican plan by 2020, or be $27.8T in debt under the democrat plan. Either will result in a significant increase in interest rates.

Conrad73: all thanks to the actions of "Fearless Leader"!
Well, to be honest Conrad, although Obama is by far the worst, all the other recent administrations had their share of the blame too. They all spent more money than the nation could afford.
The crash of the economy was inevitable with or without Obama.
But Obama put a lot of expensive new nails in the coffin.

leigh2154: Not since the "Great Depression" has America faced a financial crunch such as the one she faces now...In my opinion, this so called recession is even worse because it is much more convoluted....it is much harder to resolve.....and it has been a long time in the making....Of course some of the "airtime" is campaigned based, however that does not diminish the problem Ccincy.....The parties are not so much divided as they are aware of what is at stake...The more complicated a problem, the harder it is to solve...IMO, it is times like these that Americans need to get behind their government, not bash it....
I'm on the side that sorts it out, if America goes down we all suffer
